A routine Friday morning at Lucknow's Charbagh Railway Station turned dangerous when the tin waiting shed on Platform 5 suddenly collapsed on passengers sitting below. Two people were trapped under the fallen metal sheets. A TTE was among the injured. All three were taken to hospital.

The Railway Protection Force pulled the trapped passengers out. Northern Railway responded fast on paper the site engineer was suspended, the contractor faces heavy penalties, and a committee has been formed to investigate. But here is the part worth thinking about. This shed was reportedly being installed when it fell. On a live, crowded platform. With passengers sitting directly underneath.

A storm may have triggered the collapse. But a storm should not be able to bring down a structure at one of UP's busiest railway stations. Something was already wrong before the wind arrived.

A ₹53 lakh motorcycle. No helmet. And complete silence after.
West Bengal BJP minister Dilip Ghosh was filmed riding a Honda Gold Wing Tour through Kolkata traffic without a helmet on Friday. The video spread fast and the reactions split hard. His supporters called it authentic. His critics called it exactly what it looks like when rules apply to everyone except the people who make them.

Every day, ordinary riders across Kolkata get stopped, fined, and lectured about helmet compliance. Delivery workers. Office commuters. Students on scooters. The law does not bend for them.

But a sitting minister rides one of the most expensive motorcycles in India through city streets without a helmet, on camera, and says absolutely nothing afterward. No clarification. No acknowledgement. Just silence.

The Motor Vehicles Act is not a suggestion. It is the same law for everyone. Or it is supposed to be.

The rains are coming this year. Just not enough of them.

India's weather office revised its monsoon forecast downward on Friday now projecting rainfall at just 90% of the long period average for the 2026 season. That is lower than even the cautious 92% it had predicted back in April. The direction of revision is what worries experts most.

El Nino conditions are expected to develop in June and strengthen through July, August and September the very months when India's crops need rain the most. States like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan sit squarely in the below-normal zone. These are not peripheral farming areas. They feed the country.

Behind the numbers: 51% of India's farmed land is entirely rain-fed. Nearly half the country's working population depends on agriculture. A weak monsoon does not stay on the farm it shows up in your grocery bill, in rural incomes, and in food inflation that city households feel for months.

And before the monsoon even arrives, a brutal June heatwave is forecast across Punjab, Haryana, UP, Bihar, Odisha, Gujarat and more.

Monsoon 2026 forecast falls to 90% of LPA as El Nino returns. IMD warns of below-normal rains, June heatwaves, and rising food price risks across India.

He deleted the entire show. Got summoned by police. Disappeared for months.

Now Samay Raina is back and India's Got Latent Season 2 is already being filmed.

A behind-the-scenes photo dropped on Instagram Thursday showing Samay holding a mic with Balraj Ghai right behind him. The panel? Deliberately hidden. The caption? Just six words in Hindi "Uski bhi shooting chal rahi hai dostoooo."
That was enough to break the internet.

And it gets bigger. Leaked photos are doing the rounds suggesting Alia Bhatt and Sharvari may have already filmed their panel appearance. No confirmation yet but the pictures exist and fans are losing their minds over them.

Then there is the platform question. Season 1 was free on YouTube. Season 2 is reportedly heading to Netflix or Prime Video, with July 2026 being the target window.

From controversy to courtrooms to comeback this is one of the most remarkable turnarounds in Indian digital entertainment history.

Four Indians. One historic panel. And a tournament that is about to change how the world sees women's cricket.

The ICC has officially named its match officials for the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup in England and for the third consecutive edition, every single umpire and match referee on the panel is a woman. All 18 of them.

India has four officials in that panel. Janani N, Vrinda Rathi, and Gayathri Venugopalan are in the umpiring group. GS Lakshmi one of the most respected names in Indian cricket officiating has been appointed as a match referee for the entire tournament.
Australia's Claire Polosak will stand in her sixth T20 World Cup, having officiated 22 matches more than any umpire in the history of this event. Four officials are making their World Cup debuts. Nine from the 2024 panel return.

The tournament kicks off June 12 in Birmingham. India face Pakistan on June 14 at Edgbaston. Twelve nations. Thirty-three matches. And not one male official in sight.

This is not a gesture anymore. Three editions in a row makes it a standard.

A Rajasthan minister just called out his own convoy constable for sitting in an air-conditioned government car during a 44-degree afternoon in Sikar and the confrontation is now sparking a conversation nobody in Indian politics wants to have.

Sanjay Sharma, Rajasthan's Minister for Forest, Environment and Climate Change, walked up to a vehicle in his own VIP convoy and asked the constable inside one blunt question: "Kitne bade aadmi ho? Bina AC nahi rakh sakte?"

The constable had no answer. The minister moved on. But the moment didn't.

What makes this more than just a viral clip is the uncomfortable reality it exposes. A minister checking resource misuse in his own convoy is rare. But the man he checked was the lowest-ranked person there. The system that keeps those convoy engines running for hours burning fuel, racking up emissions was never questioned.

Sharma heads the environment portfolio. His public image is built around simplicity and rejecting VIP excess. But one sharp rebuke directed at a sweating constable doesn't fix a culture that goes all the way to the top.

Nobody warned Sanjeev Shrivastav that gifting a portrait only works if the portrait actually looks like the person.

The Patna builder walked into an official meeting with Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary, handed over a framed pencil sketch with full confidence, posted the photo on social media and then watched the internet tear it apart in real time.

The sketch looked nothing like the CM. Choudhary himself was photographed studying it with an expression somewhere between confusion and diplomacy. That one image was all Bihar's internet needed.

The Majnu Bhai memes arrived within hours. The "who is he?" comments flooded in. And Shrivastav, watching his goodwill gesture turn into a national punchline, quietly deleted the original post.

Which, of course, made everything worse.

A court order. The night before Bakrid. And a state government that had no answer. On Wednesday evening, the Madras High Court told Tamil Nadu something it did not expect to hear hours before one of the biggest Muslim festivals of the year. No cow or calf would be slaughtered anywhere in the state. Not that night. Not on Bakrid morning. Not any day going forward.

What makes this even more remarkable is the law behind the order. It was not new legislation rushed through Parliament. It was a Government Order from 1976, fifty years old, sitting quietly on the books while authorities looked the other way year after year.

Justice G R Swaminathan and Justice V Lakshminarayanan gave Tamil Nadu's Chief Secretary and top police officials just two days to submit a compliance report. Families who had been planning their Bakrid arrangements for weeks woke up to a completely different situation.

Was this the court enforcing forgotten law? Or a judicial intervention that crossed a line? Read the full breakdown here:

He walked into that Delhi meeting with letters from 100 MLAs in hand. He walked out without the Chief Minister's chair.

Siddaramaiah, Karnataka's battle-hardened CM who has survived defections, court cases, a MUDA scandal, and years of factional warfare inside his own party, has reportedly agreed to step down following marathon talks with Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, KC Venugopal, and Randeep Surjewala at Congress headquarters in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The high command's offer: a Rajya Sabha seat, a national platform, and a role as the Congress's most prominent OBC face ahead of 2029. Siddaramaiah's response, according to sources, was the one sentence that ended his own resistance. He said he would step down if Rahul Gandhi asked him to.

In Congress culture, that is not a negotiating position. That is a concession.

DK Shivakumar, who has waited since 2023, is now the frontrunner for the top job. A Governor meeting is expected Thursday. A CLP meeting likely follows Friday. Karnataka could have a new Chief Minister before the week is out.

But here is what most coverage is missing: Siddaramaiah's caste census, his guarantee schemes, his entire AHINDA social justice agenda all of it now hangs in a very uncertain political air.

Some moments in sport hit differently. This is one of them.

Drew McIntyre two-time WWE Champion, Scottish warrior, one of professional wrestling's most recognisable faces posted a gym video this morning wearing a Rajasthan Royals jersey with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's name on the back. His caption was two words: "Chosen One."

Here is the part that makes it land harder than you think. "Chosen One" was McIntyre's own nickname when he first signed with WWE back in 2007. He spent years fighting to earn it got released, rebuilt himself from scratch, came back and eventually won the WWE Championship. He knows exactly what that phrase carries. And he used it for a 15-year-old cricketer from Bihar.

Sooryavanshi heads into tonight's IPL 2026 Eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad with 583 runs this season the most in the Rajasthan Royals lineup. He has a World Cup winner's medal. He holds the record for the youngest centurion in men's T20 cricket. He is fifteen years old.

The jersey has said its piece. Tonight, the bat does the talking.
