Mohan Bhagwat flew into New York this week and what he said surprised a lot of people.

Standing before a multicultural, multi-faith crowd at an interfaith gathering, the RSS chief did not deliver a political address. He reached for something older. "Religions might be different, but humanity is one. Truth is one, and humanity is a product of that truth," he said.

He also used a word nobody expected: software. He said humans are "prisoners of the software that has been created in our heads" meaning our conditioning, not our faith, is what separates us. The truth, in his reading, sits underneath all of that.

The visit is part of a three-nation global tour spanning the US, Canada, and the UK the first of its kind during the RSS's centenary year.

The next time you pick up a packet of chips or a bottle of your child's favourite fruit drink, India's food regulator wants something staring back at you from the front of the pack. A red hexagon. Bold text. "HIGH FAT." "HIGH SUGAR." "HIGH SALT."

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has formally proposed red warning labels on packaged foods that breach set limits on added fat, sugar, or salt. The proposal was filed before the Supreme Court on August 28–29, 2026, as part of a compliance affidavit.

Here is what the plan looks like:

A red hexagonal label, front of pack, not buried on the back
Phase 1 covers products high in two or more nutrients
Phase 2 expands to products high in even one nutrient
Staples like ghee, honey, salt and jaggery are exempt

The thresholds are drawn from India's own Dietary Guidelines for 2024. The Supreme Court has been watching this for a while — this proposal is a direct response to a public interest litigation on food labelling.

It is not law yet. But it is the most concrete step India has taken on this in years.

A discussion around Indian Railways is gaining attention as passengers call for stricter ticket-checking measures before boarding trains.

One suggestion is to introduce a metro-like entry system, where passengers would be required to show a valid ticket before being allowed onto the platform. Another proposal is to check every passenger’s ticket before they board the train, rather than conducting checks only after passengers have already entered.
Supporters of the idea argue that checking tickets at the entry point could help reduce ticketless travel, overcrowding and last-minute confusion, while making the boarding process more organised.

However, implementing such a system across India’s vast railway network would require significant infrastructure, staffing and coordination, particularly at busy stations.

The debate has once again raised an important question: Should Indian Railways move towards stricter pre-boarding ticket checks like metro systems?

A tragic incident in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has left a family devastated after 18-year-old Yashika Swati reportedly fell into a 25-foot-deep pit hidden beneath the courtyard of her home.

According to reports, Yashika had just stepped out of the bathroom and was walking into the courtyard when the ground gave way beneath her. She fell into the deep pit and became trapped.

Rescue efforts continued for nearly 10 hours, but by the time she was pulled out, she had reportedly died.

The pit was allegedly created around three years ago when boring work was carried out at the house in an attempt to find water. After no water was found, the opening was reportedly sealed from above with plaster, leaving the dangerous cavity hidden beneath the courtyard.

The heartbreaking incident has raised serious concerns about the risks of leaving abandoned or improperly sealed borewells and underground pits on residential premises.

Vaseline just renamed itself 'Baseline' and the internet has been in shambles ever since.

It started with a South Korean creator named Min Day Lee. She posted a video showing off her Vaseline collection, except she called it 'Baseline' the entire time. Every. Single. Time. Not a slip. Just how the word comes out when Korean phonetics meet a brand name that starts with a 'V' a sound the Korean language does not really have.

The clip hit 38 million views in under 48 hours.

What Vaseline did next is what everyone is talking about. The brand updated its social media display name to 'Baseline.' Changed the profile photo. Then posted a tongue-in-cheek announcement saying, after extensive review (which it described as watching one viral video), the rebrand was official. And then because why not it appointed Min Day Lee as CEO of Baseline, effective immediately, no interview required.

The product has not changed. The petroleum jelly in your bathroom cabinet is still the same. But online, for now, the 154-year-old brand answers to a new name.

Peter Cullen, who played Optimus Prime in Transformers for nearly four decades, has died at 85. He passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles, surrounded by family, his agent confirmed.
Cullen was never just Optimus Prime, though. He voiced Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh for years, created the eerie clicking sounds for the creature in Predator, and played King Kong in the 1976 remake. But Optimus Prime was the role that defined him, a character he said he built on memories of his own brother, who served as a Marine in Vietnam.
His family's tribute echoed the very character he brought to life, asking fans to lead with compassion, integrity and loyalty, and to always "be strong enough to be gentle."
