We are proud to announce the launch of an innovative model for community-based COVID-19 surveillance and management in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur, Unnao, and Fatehpur districts.
RTI International India, along with its on-ground partner J. L. Rohatgi General Hospital and technology partner Dimagi, has launched this initiative with support from CII Foundation and CLP India Pvt Ltd
The model leverages existing frontline workers by upskilling them to use a tailored digital platform for syndromic surveillance and combines it with teleconsultation and real-time data inputs to local health authorities, enabling rapid identification and containment. This model recalibrates the existing mechanism of public health response in rural areas, where the dangers of community transmission are the highest. Through efficient community-level digital surveillance, risk categorization, and linking of COVID-19 suspects with health providers, it aims to breaks the chain of catalytic transmission in high-density, low-resource settings.
The model aims to reverse the current care-seeking pathway by managing those with mild to moderate risk at the village level, with only serious cases being escalated to the nearest health facilities, thereby alleviating the pressure being felt by the primary health infrastructure. It also aims to formulate a model of delivery contextual to rural settings that can be adopted across different services in the fight against COVID-19 and beyond.
We are committed to aiding the ongoing efforts of local governments in addressing the escalating public health crisis amidst the COVID-19 outbreak. CMOffice,UP
