Your Business Plan and Pitch Deck are NOT the same thing.
Yet many founders treat them as if they are.

A Business Plan should explain the business in depth:
• What problem are you solving?
• Who is your customer?
• What is your business model?
• How big is the opportunity?
• How will you acquire customers?
• What are your operational requirements?
• What are the risks?
• What are your financial projections?
• How much capital do you need and why?

A Pitch Deck, on the other hand, needs to communicate the investment opportunity quickly and clearly.
It should make an investor understand:
Problem → Solution → Market → Business Model → Traction → Financials → Growth Opportunity → Funding Ask

But there is an important point founders often miss:
A beautiful Pitch Deck cannot compensate for a weak Business Plan.
And a 40-page Business Plan won't help if the founder cannot communicate the opportunity clearly in a 10–15 slide presentation.

The two documents should tell the same story at different levels of depth.
Your numbers should match.
Your assumptions should match.
Your growth strategy should match.
Your funding requirement should match.
And most importantly, your story should match your actual business.

Before approaching investors, ask yourself:
“If an investor challenged every number in my Pitch Deck, could my Business Plan and financial model defend it?”

That's where investor readiness really begins.

Priya walked into the workshop believing she wasn't "ready" yet.

Not ready to invest because she didn't earn "enough."
Not ready to open her own account because her husband "handled all of that."
Not ready to ask questions because she was afraid they'd sound stupid in a room full of women who clearly had it figured out.

She'd been waiting for the right salary, the right moment, the right level of confidence. She was 38. She'd been waiting for eleven years.

She left having made one decision.
Not a big one. Not the kind you announce at dinner or post about online.

She decided that the next time someone asked her, "should we put this in your name or mine?" she would answer. Herself. Without checking first. Without saying "whatever you think." Without shrinking into the background of her own financial life.

Three months later, she messaged me.
She hadn't become a stock market expert. She hadn't restructured her portfolio. She hadn't done anything that would impress a CA. But she'd started one SIP in her own name, opened a separate savings account she didn't tell anyone about, and for the first time in her adult life, she knew, to the rupee, what she had.

"I don't feel like a guest in my own finances anymore," she wrote.
That's the only number that matters to me.

Priya's shift didn't happen alone. It happened in a room. If you want that room inside your organisation, for your women employees, your ERG, your leadership team, that's exactly what Fun with Finance workshops are built for. Let's build it together. DM me for details.

Many Indian women today earn well, manage household finances, and make critical financial decisions, yet hesitate when it comes to investing.

The real challenge isn't income. It's confidence.

In this article, I explore the "Wealth Confidence Gap" and share practical ways women can overcome fear, build financial confidence, and take charge of their wealth journey.

THE WEALTH CONFIDENCE GAP highlights why many Indian women, despite earning more than ever, still hesitate to invest independently. The article explains that the real challenge is not a lack of ability, but limited financial participation, inherited beliefs, and insufficient hands-on investing exper...

"𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗜 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻?"
This is probably the most common question I hear from founders.
Unfortunately, many answers are based on ambition rather than financial reality.

A funding round shouldn't be decided by:
❌ "Let's raise ₹10 crore because it sounds right."

It should be backed by:
✅ 18–24 months of runway
✅ A clear and defensible use of funds
✅ A realistic valuation backed by financial analysis
✅ Strong unit economics and governance

Today's investors are asking tougher questions than ever before.
They're not just investing in growth stories, they're investing in businesses with financial discipline, predictable ex*****on, and credible numbers.

The best fundraising strategy isn't about raising the maximum capital.
It's about raising the right amount, at the right valuation, for the right purpose.

How did you decide the size of your last funding round, or how would you decide your first?
