One of the greatest artiste and practitioner of Indian Classical Music in the last half a century, Girija devi is a name synonymous to elegance and fineness. Girija Devi was a classical singer of Seniya and Banaras Gharana. Girija Devi started he training at the age of five under Sarju Prasad Mishra , a vocalist and a Sarangi player. She started her career in All India Radio but she was opposed by her family initially as middle-or upper middle class women performing public was frowned upon. However she performed in public for the first time in 1951 in Bihar. She performed Thumri and Tappa more than Khayal. In fact the Purabi Ang Thumri style got in a way revived by her authentic traditional renditions. She has been member of faculty in ITC Sangeet Research Academy and Banaras Hindi University in the 80s and 90s.
We remember the Queen of Thumri on her 89th birth anniversary.

Remo Fernandes is often regarded as the pioneer of Indian Pop Music. A naturalized Portugese citizen, working and living India throughout, Remo’s music reflects a plethora of culture and sounds of different regions around the world. Traces of Goan and Portuguese music, Sega music from Mauritius and Seychelles, African music, Latin music from Spain and South America, Caribbean music of Jamaica and Soca from Trinidad and Tobago can be observed in his works. Apart from solo albums he has done playback for Hindi films many times. Remo is quite unique within the Indian music scene with his thriving popularity in spite of him being essentially a singer and songwriter in English. Remo’s ride to popularity began in the late80s and 90s with Club music dominating the pop taste in India that time. Still thriving and exploring, Remo Fernandes is definitely a name that immediately takes you back to that Nostalgic 90s.
We wish the musical mind a very happy birthday.

The single most important artist to emerge in post-war American blue, Muddy Waters came up with guitar licks and a repertoire of classic songs that have incited innumerable rock acts, from the Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton to the Allman Brothers Band and Led Zeppelin. Waters absorbed the influences of rural blues from the Deep South, infusing his music with a fierce, electric energy and helping pioneer the Chicago Blues style that controlled the music through the 1950s, ‘60s, and '70s. With hits like "I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man" and "Got My Mojo Working," his sensual lyrics excited interest in the young crowds of the city. "Rollin' Stone," one of his singles, became so popular that it went on to influence the name of one of the most famous rock bands to date- The Rolling Stones.

Celebrating the maestro Muddy Waters on his 105th birth anniversary!

Black Sabbath's is one of only two guitarists (the other being 's ) that can take full credit for pioneering the mammoth riffs of heavy metal. His innovative, de-tuned, dark riffs are considered to be the blueprint for hundreds of bands that followed.
