Our session on “The Long Game: Sustaining Women’s Careers from Entry to Executive” brought into focus a critical truth for the future of work: gender equity is not built through moments, but through systems that support women across every stage of their careers.

The discussion explored how organisations must move beyond one-time interventions to designing continuous, long-term career pathways — from early career opportunities and mid-career transitions to leadership readiness and late-career inclusion. Insights highlighted how factors like flexibility, sponsorship, equitable opportunity, and inclusive leadership behaviours shape not just entry, but sustained growth.

The key takeaway was clear: retaining and advancing women requires intentional, structural design. When organisations commit to building careers over the long game, they move from participation to true progress.

Thank you to our speakers Prof. Iris Bohnet, Co-Director, Women and Public Policy Program, Harvard Kennedy School; Anuranjita Kumar, Co-Founder & CEO, WeAce; and Vieshaka L Dutta (She, Her), Senior Director - Diversity Equity and Inclusion, Publicis Sapient for bringing depth, perspective, and leadership to this important conversation.

At the leadership roundtable ‘Creating a Culture of Belonging: Leadership Perspectives for the Future of Work’, organised by ET NOW Global DEI Alliance (GDEIA) in collaboration with Nomura Services, India, Ankit Bhuptani (He,Him,His), Moderator of the session, reflected on why belonging deserves a central place in the DEI conversation.

He shared that while diversity is often measurable and visible, belonging is deeply experiential and frequently overlooked. Drawing a powerful distinction, he noted that diversity may invite people to the table, but belonging is what makes them want to stay. The discussion, he said, created space to reflect on existing organisational practices while also learning from one another through shared experiences and co-learning.

Emphasising India’s unique context, Ankit highlighted that the country’s DEI journey cannot be a replica of global models. Rooted in India’s long-standing understanding of diversity, he stressed the need to consciously translate that diversity into inclusion and inclusion into belonging as organisations shape the next phase of the DEI journey.

At the leadership roundtable ‘Creating a Culture of Belonging: Leadership Perspectives for the Future of Work’, organised by ET NOW Global DEI Alliance (GDEIA) in collaboration with Nomura, Services, India, Qasim Fizza Latifi, Lead – Inclusive Diversity & Well-being, Alvarez & Marsal, shared his perspective on what truly anchors belonging in the workplace.

He reflected that belonging begins with psychological safety—where individuals feel confident to speak up, be heard, and express themselves without fear. He emphasised the need for organisations to intentionally build environments that encourage open dialogue, while enabling leaders to listen with empathy and intent.

According to him, when psychological safety becomes a leadership priority, it lays the foundation for trust, inclusion, and a culture where people can genuinely thrive.

At the leadership roundtable ‘Creating a Culture of Belonging: Leadership Perspectives for the Future of Work’, organised by ET NOW Global DEI Alliance (GDEIA) in collaboration with Nomura Services, India, harish iyer, Senior Vice President & Head – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Axis Bank, reflected on the true power of collaboration in driving change.

He shared that meaningful progress emerges when organisations create spaces where ideas can flow freely—not only those we agree with, but also those that challenge and conflict with our perspectives. According to him, it is in the expression of diverse, even opposing viewpoints, that the opportunity to create something entirely new takes shape.

Highlighting his experience at the roundtable, Harish emphasised that collaboration rooted in openness and honest dialogue is what enables inclusion to move beyond intent and translate into real impact.

Today, we celebrate women in all their diversities their strength, their resilience, their quiet courage, and their bold leadership.

Every woman’s journey is different. Shaped by identity, experience, opportunity, and sometimes, by barriers she didn’t choose. Inclusion begins when we truly see those differences and choose to value them.

This International Women’s Day, let’s do more than celebrate.

Build workplaces where every woman across backgrounds, roles, and life stages feels seen, supported, and unstoppable.

At the leadership roundtable ‘Creating a Culture of Belonging: Leadership Perspectives for the Future of Work’, organised by ET NOW Global DEI Alliance (GDEIA) in collaboration with Nomura Services, India, Vivek Vyas, Executive Director & Head – Employee Relations, HR Compliance & Policies, and Corporate Communications, Nomura Services, India, reflected on the depth and relevance of the discussions.

He shared that the session served as a strong validation of the DEI journey organisations are on, offering clarity on both direction and intent. One of his key learnings was the importance of starting from a place of ignorance rather than arrogance—avoiding assumptions and instead involving communities directly in shaping initiatives so that belonging is genuinely felt.

He also highlighted vulnerability as a critical enabler, noting the need to create environments where both employees and leaders feel supported through the journey. Emphasising that inclusion is not an event or a one-time effort, he underscored that building belonging is a long-term commitment—one that requires sustained action and patience to deliver meaningful impact over time.

At the leadership roundtable ‘Creating a Culture of Belonging: Leadership Perspectives for the Future of Work’, organised by ET NOW Global DEI Alliance (GDEIA) in collaboration with Nomura Services, India, Dr. Anil Salvi, Managing Director & Group Head – Human Resources, JM Financial, reflected on what it truly takes to build inclusive organisations.

He shared that inclusion within organisations is a reflection of the society they operate in—and equally, organisations have the responsibility and the resources to positively influence society at large. Emphasising the importance of humility in leadership, he highlighted that meaningful progress begins by approaching inclusion with a mindset of learning rather than assumption.

He also underscored the value of getting the fundamentals right, noting that revisiting and strengthening basic practices within organisations is essential to embedding inclusion in a lasting way. These foundational actions, when done well, can shape culture far more effectively than complex interventions.

This Holi, we celebrate more than colours.
We celebrate every voice, every story, every shade that makes us stronger together.

Like every hue has its own vibrancy, every individual brings a unique perspective that enriches us all. Inclusion isn’t about blending in — it’s about ensuring everyone has the space to shine.

As we celebrate, let’s also commit to creating workplaces where differences are valued, equity is intentional, and belonging is real.

Because when every hue shines, we all rise.
Wishing you a joyful and inclusive Happy Holi.
