🔍 𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰?

The word “quiz” was been invented in just one day as part of a bet!😲
Legend says in 1791, Richard Daly, a Dublin theatre owner wagered he could introduce a new word into the English language within 48 hours.
He had his staff graffiti the word “QUIZ” all over the city and by the next evening, people were buzzing about it.
No one knew what it meant, but they were curious.

And thanks to Daly's creativity, Page Turners' was born.

Page Turners' goes Quizzical!

It's been 4 years since I have been organising, mentoring and hosting successful quiz events for schools, my residential complex, banks, senior citizen groups like Getsetup Community, and the passion never fades.
As I completed 6 years of yet another successful event, with only the aim for children to gain knowledge in a fun way, I hope that the flame for quizzing passes on to many more children as it has done in the past.

Strong parental involvement is a key component in Page Turners' Reading Club. To help them develop their reading skills, here are some tips to help you improve and encourage their
reading. (Part 2)
4. Ask your child what could be an alternate ending to the story.
5. Ask your child to retell the book to you. Remind them to think of DETAILS!
6. Have a discussion on what else could have been included in the book.
7. Find author’s crafts in the book: repetition, alliteration (repeating first letter), varying the size of the font for emphasis, rhyme, use of sound words.(Grade 5 onwards)
8. Look for little words inside of bigger words: or in horn, cab in cabbage, for example.
9. Pick out 3 new words to learn to spell. Practice them!
10. Make a word web of details for non-fiction books. Or ask your child to list the things he/she found out.
11. Talk about how you could end the book differently.
12. Think of title variations of this book that one could write.

Strong parental involvement is a key component in Page Turners' Reading Club. Other than helping your child to grow up happy and healthy, the most important thing that you can do for them is help them develop their reading skills.
Here are some tips to help you improve and encourage their
reading. (Part 1)
1. Remind your child to take a “picture walk” first, before reading. Encourage them to talk about the book to you without looking at the words yet. Let your child attempt the book while you watch and listen, but resist giving ANY help at all.
2. Let them work through it, but don’t say a word. Say, “I am just a listener today. You are doing a nice job without me. I am so impressed!” If the book is JUST RIGHT, this works. If it is HARD, you might need to help
3. At the end of the book, ask your child to tell you about his favorite page/part of the book. Encourage your child to tell why they liked it.
