But design far transcends merely the aesthetic. It subsumes every experience you live through. Better process design means more efficient workplaces and better hardware design routinely saves life and limb. Better design also means more profits. A 2014 DMI study has shown that design-driven companies outperform the S&P index by a staggering 228% over the span of a decade. Yet, despite its obvious
relevance in today’s world, design is often ignored in organizations, especially in India. And people in all walks are feeling this lack keenly, trying to break out of the same ideas, same conversations. There is also an urgent need to introduce a cultural bias toward sustainability and social cost of consumption. That’s where we come in. At Future Tense Inc. we are building a community where we can share ideas, learn new design methods such as Design Thinking & Design Fiction and work on interesting design projects so that you can take a fresh perspective back to your workplace. Simply talking about changing the world is not enough — we aim to equip member with the tools and vocabulary to break the mould! Through meetups with guest speakers, design workshops, and design-a-thons we aim to engage the community which actually practices these skills by working on problems big and small, be it urban transport, care of stray animals, or design of door handles. An entrepreneur, a photographer, a coder, an artist, an analyst, a teacher, a rocket scientist, or a social worker — we encourage the variety of experience and aim to create a space where you can meet professional collaborators!
