That’s the bow-tie effect — a contrast pattern that can appear in elongated fancy shapes when light isn’t returned evenly across the stone.

A slight bow-tie can be completely normal. But if it’s very dark or distracting, it can affect the diamond’s face-up appearance.

And here’s the important part: there isn’t a separate bow-tie grade on the certificate — you need to actually look at the diamond.

Natural diamond producers have been reducing output as the industry works through inventory and challenging market conditions.

Are lab-grown diamond prices finally beginning to stabilise? 💎

The latest Q2 2026 wholesale data suggests the market may be entering a new phase.

Overall LGD prices were still down **13% YoY** — but the movement is no longer the same across every category.

• **1 CT Rounds:** ↑ 1%
• **2 CT Rounds:** ↓ 20%
• **Key Fancy Shapes:** ↓ ~17% on average

The important takeaway?

**The LGD market is becoming more category-specific.**

Instead of asking only, “Are lab-grown prices still falling?”, traders may now need to watch **which sizes and shapes are stabilising first — and which are still under pressure.**

That could become increasingly important for buying decisions, stock planning and pricing over the coming months.
