Naharlagunβs Jumni Kamki has achieved a significant milestone by becoming one of the first few Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI)-licensed Clinical Psychologists from Arunachal Pradesh β and the first from the Galo community β marking an important step forward in the stateβs mental health services.
Daughter of late Dr Bomjum Kamki, former district medical officer and retired principal Momik Boje Kamki, Jumni completed her M.Phil in Clinical Psychology from the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Delhi Campus β a Central University and Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
She underwent intensive clinical training at Lady Hardinge Medical College and Associated Hospitals, New Delhi, where she worked with patients experiencing a range of conditions, including obsessive-compulsive, personality, substance use, psychotic, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Specialising in anxiety, trauma, mood disorders and addiction, Jumni is proficient in psychological assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based therapy, including trauma-focused and neuropsychological interventions.
Speaking about her mission, Jumni said mental health should not remain a privilege confined to cities.
βEvery individual, regardless of where they live, deserves access to professional psychological support,β she said.
Currently offering online counselling, Jumni plans to open her own clinic next year to make mental health care more accessible across the state.
Other RCI-licensed Clinical Psychologists from Arunachal Pradesh include Osunam Pertin, Oyin Mibang, Tage Munya, Kenny Dulom and Tokmem Paron.
