Pandratan lies under a cliff and is almost hidden away by a dense grove of trees. But the oldest of all is Shankara-chรกrai, the temple on the Takht-i-Suliman, where worship is still performed. Thither every Monday the pious toil up the steep hill, which looks over the city and the Dal lake on the one side and over the twisting course of the Jhelum on the other. The hill is a noble site for the guardian deities of Srinagar, and has at various times been sacred to the Buddhists and Hindus. Its old name was ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ต๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฎ ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜ƒ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฎ, and the common people say that though Sikandar the Iconoclast spared the temple he changed the name of the hill from Sandhiman to Suliman. Many of the villagers gravely assert that king Solomon once lived in the valley and that the hill was named after him. Across the city there rises another hill known as Hari Parbat, which is also very sacred to the Hindus. It was under this hill that the goddess Devi entombed the water-demon Jaldbo. Its old name was 'Pradimanpith, but the Kashmรญri Musalmรกns call it the wicked hill, Kohi-Marรกn.' Devi of the eighteen hands (Sharka Pilgrimages. Devi) is worshipped there. Kashmir is the country of pilgrimages. The most famous places are the Amarnรกth cave, which lies far away up the Liddar valley, and the Ganga-Bal lake, which rests deep and still under the terrible snow-capped Haramukh. To Ganga-Bal the Hindus resort after the death of a parent, and fling the knuckle-bones which the funeral pyre has spared into the deep waters.

The original name of Gulmarg was โ€œGauri Margโ€( path of Goddess Gauri ). It was the site of an ancient temple dedicated to Shiva and Parvati. The temple was demolished during Islamist invasions. Chak ruler Yousuf Shah renamed Gaurimarg to Gulmarg in 16th century.. But Hindus continued visiting the tirtha and it was not forgotten. In 1915, the Dogra king Maharaja Hari Singh built a new temple at that spot for his wife Maharani Mohini Bai Sisodia who ruled till 1915. It is now known as Maharani temple.

Malik also chronicled the history of Kashmir. He was honoured and rewarded by the Mughals for his talents. Jahangir has eloquently praised the beauty of Chadoora and mentioned in his Tuzk-e-Jahangiri, about a tree which would tremble all over if only a branch of it was pulled. The tree, he says was known as Halthal. There is no such tree present in the area or anywhere else but going by the description of the emperor, it seems that it must have been a delight to see the tree. At Chadoora is also situated the grave of Mir Shams-ud-Din Iraqi, a Shiete theologist. The counsellor of the last native ruler of Kashmir, Yusuf Shah Chak and his son, Yakub Chakโ€™s tutor, Ali Dar also belonged to this area. The present Chadoora town was once a Kareva. Jahangir used to visit this place for hunting. He rechristained the place as Noorabad after his beloved wide but the name, was not popular upon which the king ordered reversion to its old name. Chadoora held a place of prominence during the Mughal period. The Mughals had constructed some buildings here including a small palace and an ammunition depot.

The revered shrine of Sheikh Noor-ud-din Wali can also be found in the Charari Sharief Tehsil of Budgam district. Asia's oldest/largest Chinar resides at Chattergam Budgam. Aga Sahib Shrine and Tomb of Shams-ud-Din Araqi are also situated in this district.

NarasthaTral, Called Narastan Temple, here you will find a beautiful Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Though in ruins the temple still is a valuable heritage and a state protected monument.

This stone temple is distinguished for its architectural works; it is dissimilar from all the other temples in the Kashmir Valley. Dating back to more than 1400 years, the temple is believed to have been dedicated to Lord Narayana (also known as Lord Vishnu, He is a major God in Hinduism, the 2nd member of the Holy Trinity). The temple faces east and now houses a Shivling, (the symbolic phallus representation of Lord Shiva) that must have been put up at a later date. The interior compound measures about 8.6 feet square. An interesting feature of the Narastan Temple is, it has no ceiling. The courtyard measures 70 feet square. From the outer wall, there is a small side entrance near the southwestern side. This circular shaped temple is wholly constructed with stones in Gandhara style of architecture.

The temple is on a single base consisting of only four courses of stones. At the top of the pediment, there is a figure that resembles a Garuda, the king of birds, sacred vehicle to Lord Vishnu, who is half man and half eagle with the power to acquire any shape. The main draw of the temple is the trefoil arches on the peripheral of the shrine walls. Another remarkable feature is the absence of any circumambulatory path on top of the base. From the courtyard, a flight of four steps leads to the shrine of Narastan. There is a stream of water that gushes down near the front of the temple. There is another shrine located in the northern part of the chamber, which has a sloping roof and ceiling similar to that of the Pandrethan Temple. The temple can be approached on the Awantipur-Tral Road by reaching Arpal. Form Arpal village Narastan is only 6 miles away

Kapalmochan Teerath is situated on the banks of the Rambiara Nallah, about two kilometers from South Kashmirโ€™s Shopian town.

Kapalmochan is a Hindu religious place, has a lot of recognition all over the country, but it has a significant recognition among the Kashmiri Pandits, for Kashmiri Pandits, it is the only place in the Valley where the Shradh for those who die in accidents (Akal rityu) are performed. The temple, named as Kapleshwar Shiva, houses a Shiva Lingam and is surrounded by three fresh water
springs. The small fresh water springs which surround the premises of shrine have special importance for the Kashmiri Pandit community. They believe that the holy water gushing out of these springs can absolve sins. A few local Muslims also claim that the water has strong curative power.
This pilgrimage site is one of the three main places in the country where people who have died due to premature death get salvation. Thousands of people used to come to the place for mass donation before terrorism engulfed the state. People from different corners of the country used to come here and organize the pilgrimage. It is here that the kriya and shraddha of the unmarried and premature death is performed. This is the only place in the country after Ujjain and Chennai where
those who suffer premature death are said to get salvation. Pind Dan and Sharads were / are to be performed normally on the occasion of Shravan Duadashi every year.
The Sacred Shivling here is said to have thousands of eyes.
During the era of terrorism, this Sacred Lingam was fragmented.
Another story about the tirth is that Kapal (skull) of Lord Brahma got attached to Lord Shivaโ€™s finger after Shive beheaded him for a wrong confession. Lord Shiva failed to get rid of the Kapal attached to his finger despite visiting a number of sacred places. But finally when he reached here and took a dip in one of the springs, the Kapal got detached from his finger and he was exonerated.

An historical fort named as Bhimgarh Fort, but generally also known as โ€˜Reasi Fortโ€™ is located in the town of Reasi on a hillock approximately 150 meters high. As per local lore initially the fort was made of clay which later on was reconstructed with stone masonry and was generally used by the royal family for taking shelter during emergencies. Presently the fort is in the charge of the Department of Archaeology, J&K Government since 1989. Today the fort stands out as one of the important landmarks in the town. During the time this was damaged several times due to its age and natural violence. From time to the government understanding the importance of this fort has tried its best to reconstruct it. It's due to this fact that this fort is still standing in Reasi and it adds shine to the Reasi city.

The gates of this stunning Bhimgarh fortress are adorned with folk paintings from Rajasthan. The Bhimgarh fort/ Reasi Fort in Jammu and Kashmir is surrounded by dense forests, beautiful mountains and offers 360- degree views of the valley and the surrounding landscapes so tourists can also visit there.
