We are Hiring a Communications & Advocacy Manager (New Delhi) for our Not for Profit Client who are is an Indian not-for-profit, exclusively committed to eradicating child undernutrition, through a three-pronged approach of raising awareness, implementing direction intervention projects in vulnerable geographies and conducting research to understand the underlying causes of malnutrition and has touched over 7 lakh lives in India the past five years. They are a member of a leading global network working in more than 45 countries and supporting around 20 million people. They drive change from the ground up, to make this world free from hunger. Their work has impacted the lives of 15 million individuals globally, through a network of 7100 humanitarian professionals across 50 countries. In India, their operations focus on taking decisive action against the causes and effects of malnutrition. Through grassroots interventions, we equip people with knowledge and awareness, so they can see their children grow up strong, and enable whole communities to prosper.
About the role:
The Client is looking for a manager who will support the organization’s policy and advocacy goals by taking responsibility for devising and implementing an effective communication and documentation Strategy.
Primary Responsibilities:
The role includes, but is not limited to:
1) Developing qualitative communication & advocacy documents and dissemination
Write and produce quality communication and advocacy materials to maintain an effective impact of the projects implemented by the organization.
Draft briefing papers, policy briefs, position papers, secondary research, FAQs, and presentations around nutrition & health to brief the stakeholders.
Ensure all materials produced adhere to org and donor branding guidelines.
Ensure timely and effective dissemination of org impact stories, best practices, research findings and project and program achievements through various platforms and fora.
Collaborate with the program teams to identify story ideas and advocacy issues.
Prepare case studies and media stories to illustrate the human face of the projects
Write minutes and reports of the meetings and events.
2) Strategic consultation, coordination and support for advocacy and communications for advocacy team
Identify and address key communication and advocacy issues arising from the programs and develop appropriate interventions to address them.
Participate in technical committees, strategic advocacy initiatives and civil society networks as appropriate to drive org’s advocacy agenda.
Provide counsel and support to senior leadership for strategic national and international meetings that require talking points, key messages etc. to ensure appropriate org representation.
3) Media Relations
Draft distribute and pitch press releases, as necessary.
Manage media relations and maximize media opportunities.
Build networks with journalists, in particular with journalists specialized in the nutrition and health sector.
Develop and regularly update a press and media contact information database.
Respond to enquiries from the media in liaison with the Director of Advocacy.
Prepare the leadership and other spokespersons for media interviews and/or presentations in consultation with the communication team.
Organize media workshops to build capacity of the journalists on the area of nutrition and health.
Set up and manage media interviews, media events and exposure visits for the journalists.
Draft statements, Q&A, op eds, briefs, when required.
4) Stakeholder engagement and partnership building
Identify and guide external opportunities for strategic engagement to advance Org’s advocacy priorities in country including Technical working groups at national and state levels.
Develop and maintain strategic partnerships and networks with stakeholders, advocates and influencers as well as identify opportunities for strategic engagement to advance org’s priorities in India.
Any other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Master’s degree in communications, Journalism, Management, Social Sciences or other related field
Minimum 5 years of proven work experience in communications and advocacy
Compensation: Between 7,00,000 to 9,00,000 INR CTC per annum, the final pay will be decided based on experience and expertise.
Travel: low (10-15% of the Time for meetings and location visits)
