A successful and enriching Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on Acute Stroke and Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) was conducted in association with IMA Ramgarh

It was an honor to deliver a talk on Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), highlighting the importance of timely screening and intervention to prevent childhood blindness.

Dr. Yuvraj Lahre (DM Neurology, AIIMS) delivered an insightful session on the latest advances in the diagnosis and management of Acute Stroke, emphasizing the importance of early recognition and timely treatment.

We are grateful to all the 50+ doctors who participated and made the CME highly interactive and successful. The enthusiastic discussions and exchange of knowledge across specialties made the event truly memorable.

Together, through continuous medical education and collaboration, we strive to improve patient care and outcomes.

A STORY BEYOND MEDICINE

One day, a 9-year-old girl came to my OPD with her mother. She was unusually quiet and reluctant to go to school. The reason was heartbreaking she could no longer see the blackboard clearly with either eye.

On examination, her vision was only 6/60 and N60 in both eyes. After a detailed evaluation, she was diagnosed with bilateral toxoplasma retinochoroiditis, a sight-threatening condition that can severely affect vision in children.

She was treated with intravitreal injections and appropriate medications. Over the following weeks, her condition gradually improved. The inflammation settled, the retinal lesions healed, and most importantly, her vision improved significantly.

Today, her left eye vision is 6/12, N8.

But the most rewarding outcome is not the numbers on the chart.

She is back in school. She can see the blackboard again. She can study, learn, and enjoy her childhood without the fear of losing her vision.

Moments like these remind us why we chose this profession. Making a meaningful change in someone's life especially a child's is the most fulfilling part of being a physician.
