14 November marks the 126th birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Indian Prime Minister. The day is also celebrated as Children's Day in the country, considering Nehru's love towards kids and contribution to the educational sector.

It was Nehru who established the prestigious educational institutions -- Indian Institutes of Technology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Indian Institutes of Management and National Institutes of Technology.During his five-year plan, he guaranteed free and compulsory primary education to children, apart from launching provisions to give free milk and meals to children in order to fight malnutrition. In rural areas, he organised education centres, vocational and technical schools for adults.
