'It's far better to be great than Lucky'

Great business leaders maintain a paradoxical relationship to luck. On one hand, they credit good luck in retrospect for having played a role in their achievements. On the other hand, they don't blame bad luck for failures, and they hold only themselves responsible if they fail to produce desired results.

They grasp that if they blame bad luck for failure, they capitulate to fate. Equally, they grasp that if they fail to perceive when good luck helped, they might overestimate their own skills and leave themselves exposed when Luck runs dry. There might be more good luck down the road, but they never count on it.

Great Business Leaders [10Xers] have a paradoxical personality. They have 'ambitions to achieve' and at the same time 'self-control to hold back'

They don't follow madness. They don't pursue aggressive growth by making radical changes, big leaps, or, by catching and riding the next big wave.

They do pursue spectacular opportunities but with tremendous amount of self-control. They do it by developing concrete, clear, intelligent, and rigorous performance mechanism that keeps them always on track.

No matter how great is the opportunity to expand; They would set targets that does not lead them too far or grow too much in a single year (grow beyond their resources) or extend beyond their ability to preserve profitability.

They never succumb to the market pressures. Achieving reasonable and steady results for decades is the purpose. This is not just a target, or wish or a vision. It is 'The Law'

10X leaders are not blind risk takers neither they are hyper reactive to the changes in their industries. They are proactive planners

They maintain hypervigilance, stay highly attuned to possible threats and changes in the business environment, even when-especially when-all's going well. they assume conditions will trun against them, at perhaps the worst possible moment.

They channel their fear and worry into action, preparing, developing contingency plans, building buffer resources, and maintaining large margins of safety.

They defy the myth that 'great business success requires great risk taking'.
