Austria is exploring an unusual way to generate electricity: micro turbines positioned near highways can potentially capture airflow and turbulence created by passing vehicles. Instead of allowing this disturbed air to disappear unused, the concept aims to convert some of its kinetic energy into electrical power. Such systems could potentially support small roadside applications, sensors, lighting, or other low-power infrastructure. The technology is still experimental, and its real-world efficiency, durability, maintenance requirements, and environmental impact need further evaluation. If successfully developed, highway-based micro turbines could become an interesting addition to renewable-energy systems, especially when combined with solar, wind, and smart infrastructure for cleaner transportation networks worldwide.

Founded inside SpaceX in 2017 and spun out a year later, Boring Co. aims to revolutionize transportation through underground loops where passengers board Tesla vehicles at stations and travel between destinations . While the company has announced roughly a dozen city projects, its only operational public loop today is in Las Vegas, connecting the convention center to casino resorts . In July 2025, Boring Co. signed a deal to build 20 miles of tunnels in Nashville, though the project sparked partisan backlash and a Vanderbilt survey found most residents opposed it .

The new funding will accelerate plans for over 150 kilometers of tunnels across the Emirates, building on the existing Dubai Loop project . Vy Capital founder Alexander Tamas sits on a Dubai advisory council for the digital economy, reflecting the deepening ties between Musk's ventures and Gulf investment hubs .
