Gautam Budh Nagar district: The 40-storey Supertech's twin towers- Apex and Ceyane were demolished today at 2:30 PM in pursuance of Supreme Court's order.
According to the demolition firm Edifice Engineering, over 3,500 kg of explosives were used raze the nearly 100-metre-tall twin towers.
Noida CEO Ritu Maheshwari has said that cleaning was being done, gas and electricity supply would be restored in the area, while people would be allowed to enter the neighbouring societies after 6.30 pm. Water sprinklers and anti-smog guns are also being used around the demolition site to settle the dust.
Joint Commissioner of Police, Love Kumar, said it was a clear demolition and no untoward incident had been reported after or during the demolition. He said that force will remain deployed in the area till a green signal is given from the officials who are checking the structural damage.
Edifice officials have informed there was no damage to residential towers in adjoining Emerald Court after Supertech demolition.
The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) air quality monitoring station did not record an increase in pollution levels between 2 PM and 3 PM. The Noida-Greater Noida Expressway has also been opened to traffic.
Reacting on the demolition of Noida twin towers, the realty firm Supertech today said that plans for the twin towers were approved by the Noida authorities in 2009 and were strictly in accordance with the building bye laws that were in place at that time.
The company claimed in a statement that no deviation from the Building Plan was made and the Building was constructed after making full payment to the Authority.
The company further said that it awarded the work of demolition to a world renowned agency, Edifice Engineering who has expertise in carrying out safe demolition of high-rise buildings.
