Dear All - Wanted to share an incident. I was in Bhavnagar yesterday having breakfast at a local Idli Vada Stall. A lady municipal corporation officer came to the stall and started checking for single use plastic bags on the stall. The owner showed her entire stall and she could not find a single plastic bag. In frustration she asked for some token amount which the owner refused to give as nothing was found. Then she went to a nearby Panshop and Tea shop at both places she found single use plastic wraps and cups being used. - No fine just a 500 Rs note was what she was looking for and she might have collected not less than 10K in just 1 hr drive. Officially No plastic found. Lady officer happy with achhedin coz they have got new tool to earn money.
U all might have experienced such instances. But what is the basic intent of banning single use plastic is all down the drain if such is the state of affairs.
Solution is best given by the users themselves - Public says these officers dare not go and raid the factories which make such plastic items as these factories are owned by powerful people - or well connected people. In both cases they also must be shelling out a lot of protection money - May be under party fund which is 100% tax-free......
Such a vicious cycle.
Any solution / suggestion ??
Note - I am a Modi supporter. I think this has to be written by all Modi supporters or else local politicos call such posts Anti BJP or AntiModi or ProCongress......
Politicians read this please understand. Public is well aware of what is going on. Only problem is they dont have an option and we also trust Modiji....but not those who try to use his name and run their shops......
