Drawing is not a new title in the field of visual arts and for many it associates a specific kind of art. Some accept drawing merely in its classical form and as a sketch for painting, and some others believe in a new expression and identity for it. Drawing House is the only specific drawing center in Iran and was initiated in 2005 as a non-profit institute by Farhad Gavzan. This center tries to p
rovide opportunities for emerging and established artists through using various media ranging from traditional to modern to explore ideas around contemporary drawing and make them visible in the public domain. By holding exhibitions, workshops, specialized meetings, symposia and creative teaching sessions, Drawing House has tried to create an atmosphere in which various or even opposing mindsets would be able to express and represent themselves, so it would be able to provide an atmosphere for independence and expansion of drawing. Our aims:
• Trying to reach theconcept of drawing as thinking
• Introducing drawing as an independent media
• Studying unique features of drawing in relevance to other fields
• Trying to upgrade qualitative and quantitative level of drawing among today’s generation
And finally it is one of our main aims to play an active and influential role in the various aspects of society, environment, cultural heritage, and… through public drawing.
