On August 18, 2026, the Iran-Africa Chamber of Commerce held the inaugural session of its Health Commission.

The meeting brought together key public and private sector stakeholders to shape a practical strategy for expanding Iranโ€™s presence in Africaโ€™s healthcare market.

The session focused on:

โœ… Assessing Africaโ€™s healthcare market outlook and opportunities
โœ… Introducing Iranian capacities in pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, healthcare services, and health technologies
โœ… Identifying pathways to connect Iranian companies with African markets
โœ… Converting specialized discussions into actionable policy inputs

Attendees included Mr. Rabihavi, Director General for African & Arabic Countries at the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran; Mr. Khasipour, Director of the Arabic and African Department at the Iran Chamber of Commerce; Mr. Berahman, President of the Iran-Africa Joint Chamber; Dr. Sajjad Moravveji, Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Health Commission; heads of Iranian trade centers in Algeria, Uganda, and Tanzania; H.E. Mohammad Al-Radhi, Ambassador of Mauritania to Iran.

๐Ÿ”น Key takeaways from the meeting:

Mr. Rabihavi emphasized that specialized sessions must produce concrete outputs that can be used at the policymaking level, particularly within the Africa Headquarters under the Office of the First Vice President. He noted that Iranian companies have significant opportunities in African markets, but success depends on accurately identifying these opportunities and building practical mechanisms for private-sector engagement.

Mr. Khasipour highlighted the Iran Chamberโ€™s role in facilitating connections between Iranian businesses and target markets, encouraging greater private-sector use of the Chamberโ€™s capacities for market identification and partner matching.

Dr. Sajjad Moravveji delivered a detailed overview of Africaโ€™s healthcare market by region; The meeting also analyzed the successful experiences of China, India, and Tรผrkiye in entering African healthcare markets. These countries have effectively combined market entry with local capacity utilization, offering valuable lessons for Iran in developing a more targeted strategy.

H.E. Mohammad Al-Radhi, Ambassador of Mauritania, outlined his countryโ€™s pharmaceutical and healthcare needs. He noted that many Mauritanian patients currently travel to Spain, Morocco, and Tunisia for treatment, indicating potential for medical tourism and healthcare services cooperation with Iran. He also stressed the importance of communication and interpretation services in developing this relationship.

๐Ÿ“Œ Moving forward, the Health Commission will focus on:
โ€ข Identifying priority African markets for healthcare exports
โ€ข Learning from successful country models
โ€ข Leveraging trade centers and specialized associations
โ€ข Transferring meeting outcomes to national policymaking institutions

๐Ÿ”นWe recently hosted a high-level strategic meeting at the Iranโ€“Africa Chamber of Commerce, bringing together senior logistics leaders and private-sector operators to tackle international transport challengesโ€”and uncover real, actionable opportunities for trade between Iran and Africa.

๐Ÿ”นThe discussion made one thing clear: over-reliance on a few traditional corridors has become a shared vulnerability. To build resilient, cost-effective supply chains that truly serve both Iranian and African markets, we need to diversify our routes and reimagine our logistics.

Our experts mapped out underexplored gateways that can dramatically shorten lead times and unlock new markets for African exporters and importers. Key routes that took center stage:

๐Ÿ”ธ ฤฐskenderun Port (Tรผrkiye) โ€“ a powerful Mediterranean hub offering direct maritime links to North and East Africa, with modern infrastructure ready for increased cargo flow.

๐Ÿ”ธPakistan transit corridor โ€“ connecting the Arabian Sea to Iranian networks, opening a fast lane for trade with East and Southern African nations.
๐Ÿ”ธGeorgiaโ€“Bulgaria axis โ€“ a Black Sea gateway that creates a seamless bridge to the Balkans, Europe, and onward to North and West Africa, bypassing congested traditional paths.

The meeting also zeroed in on the future of freight:

โ€ข multimodal transport, Combining rail, road, and sea under integrated planning not only cuts transit time but also significantly reduces cost.
โ€ข We explored smart cargo tracking systems that give both Iranian and African traders real-time visibility, boosting security and trustโ€”a non-negotiable in todayโ€™s fast-moving trade environment.

All expert insights and proposed solutions from this session will be compiled into a comprehensive strategic document. It will be submitted to key decision-making bodies, ensuring the voice of the private sector shapes national policyโ€”and that the resulting infrastructure genuinely supports Iranian and African business communities.

At the Iranโ€“Africa Chamber of Commerce, we believe that when logistics works, trade growsโ€”and trust deepens.
Weโ€™re committed to turning these new corridor conversations into concrete, reliable pathways for your cargo.

We sincerely appreciate the efforts of our team members Mr. amirhossein ekrami & Mr. Yashar Hamzehlo to hold this valuable meeting.

Also we would like to appreciate the presence of logistics company and related associations who accepted our invitation.
