What is in a logo?
In our logo, there is a story! It’s a story of how ukiyo-kór came to be: two friends from opposite sides of the world who found themselves in yet a third place and decided to start a creative studio.
Taking lead from the Japanese element of our name we looked to Hanko — Japanese signature stamps. We’ve long ago abandoned the use of stamps as signatures in the West, but in Japan personalized signature stamps are still a part of daily life. We incorporated parts of ourselves and Iceland, this magical place we call heim. Swipe left learn more about each element.
1. Iceland represented by rumbling volcanoes and sparkling aurora. 2. Japan represented by koinobori: carp shaped windsocks symbolizing courage and determination (as koi are able to swim up stream).
3. Australia (Lejla’s point of origin) represented by Golden Wattle
4. Sakhalin (Nat’s birthplace) represented by its native Musk Deer
5. ukiyo-kór’s simplified logo is represented by a very Icelandic form of ukiyo: our unique opportunity to grab a bottle of wine and go watch earth’s ultimate show.
