Charles "Chuck" Feeney deeply believed in something called "Giving While Living." That means he wanted to give his money, time, and help to other people while he was still here. Chuck co-founded Duty Free Shoppers in 1960, and it became a huge success that made him a billionaire. But instead of keeping it all, Chuck quietly gave money to build schools and children's hospitals. He just believed they deserved a real chance.

Even famous people looked up to Chuck. His friend Warren Buffett said, "Chuck has set an example not only for people of my age but also younger generations. Feeney is my hero... He should be everybody's hero." In 1982, Chuck started his nonprofit The Atlantic Philanthropies, and this marked the beginning of what would become one of the largest private donations in history.

Chuck passed away on October 9, 2023 at 92 years old, and he gave away everything he had. More than $8 Billion. All he had left was a rented two-bedroom apartment, a $15 watch, and a lifetime full of good deeds. He showed all of us what it means to live a truly meaningful life.
