Feedback is a gift — but only when we learn how to give it and receive it well.

As leaders, we sometimes hesitate to give feedback because we worry about how it will be received. And when feedback comes our way, our natural instinct can be to explain, defend or justify.

Yet honest, respectful feedback is not criticism. At its best, it is an investment in someone’s growth.

Great feedback is timely, specific, kind and actionable. It helps people understand their impact, recognise their strengths and see possibilities they may not yet see for themselves.

And leadership requires something else too: the humility to receive feedback with the same openness with which we expect others to receive ours.

This Friday, perhaps there are two questions worth asking:

Who would benefit from some thoughtful feedback from me?

And perhaps the harder one…

Am I equally willing to hear theirs?

Because feedback, when given with care and received with curiosity, can become one of the greatest gifts we offer each other.

Wishing you a wonderful Friday filled with purpose, kindness and courage. 💙

Last week, we talked about having the conversation we may have been avoiding.
But once we begin that conversation, how do we enter it?
With judgement — already certain we know the answer?
Or with curiosity — genuinely willing to understand?
The strongest leaders don’t need to have all the answers.
They ask more.
They listen deeply.
They stay open to a perspective different from their own.
Curiosity opens the door to understanding.
Judgement closes the door to connection.
So our Friday question is:
Where could a little more curiosity help you lead with greater understanding next week?
Sometimes one simple sentence can change the whole conversation:

“Tell me more.”

Until next Friday… lead with purpose, kindness and courage. 💙

Some conversations are difficult. But avoiding them rarely makes them easier.
As leaders, we sometimes postpone the conversations we know we need to have — not because we don’t care, but because they feel uncomfortable.
Yet clarity is one of the greatest gifts we can give our people.
A courageous conversation can strengthen trust, prevent misunderstandings, protect relationships and create opportunities for growth.
This week’s Leading HR Friday Takeaway™ is a gentle reminder that leadership is not about avoiding difficult conversations. It is about having them with honesty, kindness and respect.
What important conversation have you been avoiding — and what might change if you chose to have it?
Sometimes, two people simply need to sit down, listen to one another and speak openly.

Have it.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Friday filled with purpose, kindness and courage.

In leadership, some of the most powerful moments cost nothing.
A genuine “thank you.”
Recognition given at the right moment.
Acknowledging effort before recognising results.
People rarely forget how someone made them feel.
When leaders consistently recognise the contributions of others, they build trust, inspire confidence and strengthen commitment.
This week’s Leading HR Friday Takeaway™️ is a simple reminder that appreciation is not an extra—it is one of the foundations of great leadership.
Who has quietly made a difference this week and deserves to hear two simple words from you?
Thank you.
Wishing you a wonderful Friday filled with purpose, kindness and gratitude.
