🎓 Workshop #1 completed - Western Region! 🌅

Three days of proposal writing, big ideas, and even bigger breakthroughs came to a close last week as our Social Development Commission officers and Faith-Based Organization leaders in the West received their certificates. 🏆

Day 2 ✅ - and the proposals are really taking shape! 📝✨

Our SDC officers and Faith-Based Organization leaders moved from problem to plan today, building out the core of a winning proposal:

🎯 Writing SMART objectives - Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound

🔄 Putting those objectives to the test with our "Rotating Walls" peer-review activity

🤝 Mapping out beneficiaries, with a real focus on understanding direct and indirect beneficiaries

⚠️ Naming risks and assumptions before they become surprises and importantly, how to mitigate these risks

Every participant is walking away with real building blocks for a fundable project and the tools to teach these same skills back in their own communities. 💪🏾

Day 1 ! 🎉📋

Our Proposal Writing Workshop - Training of Trainers kicked off yesterday, bringing together Social Development Commission (SDC) officers and Faith-Based Organization leaders from across Jamaica.

Yesterday’s focus: laying the foundation ✨ 🔑 Understanding what makes a proposal fundable 🔑 Meeting the funders - and what they are really looking for 🔑 Digging into the "Problem Tree" to get to the root of the issues our communities face.

This isn't just about writing stronger proposals - it's about equipping trainers who'll go back and build this same capacity in their own communities. 💪🏾

Engagement does not have to only use traditional methods. Using a ludi board as a means of interacting with and collecting data was developed by our CEO - Dr. Barrett in 2024 on a violence prevention and response project.

The aim is to play the game with the community and if a player lands on a particular area (which is known by the facilitator), then a question is asked and the group is engaged. It doesn’t have to be a focus group, survey and regular Q&A - get creative!

This concept is now being used by D&G Foundation to engage community persons.

In 2024 our CEO designed and facilitated a proposal writing training for civil society organizations. The client conducted an evaluation on the following areas:
✔️ Quality and Performance
✔️ Administration
✔️ Ex*****on
✔️ Staffing and Cost Control

The overall rating received was 4.8/5. Dr. Barrett asked about where we lost the 0.2😀. While no clear explanation was provided she was determined to get a perfect score in 2025.

And there you have it - the ratings were provided this week and the score was 5/5.
