At the 33rd edition of JFW Japan Creation 2025 I got the pleasure of seeing the exciting world of textiles B2B in Japan. There was a large array of kimono textiles, wool textiles, denim textiles, jacquard textiles, and even plenty of presentations of different dying methods and different machines. Being able to visit all these different manufacturers with out having to travel far is always a plus. There we some very interesting booth like the vegan leather made from corn, or the image like jacquard, or the beautiful iridescent silk. We got to meet a lot of different people in all sorts of different textile specialties. If you're a designer in need of a new manufacturer, going here you'll leave with 3 or 5 new manufacturers. Japans Creation 2025 was a sight to see and im glad to have experienced this side of the business.

Department stores the place to shop for gifts or for yourself, modern Department stores have been around since the 19th century. The first being Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche, which opened in Paris in 1852. But in Japan there is Nihombashi Mitsukoshi, which architecture dates back to 1673. And becoming a department store by 1907. Nihombashi Mitsukoshi was quite well know by geisha and business back in the day. Now if you go to this historic building it has become part modernized while still having its antique charm. From the beautiful layout perfect for shopping or traditional Japanese theater, Nihombashi Mitsukoshi is a wonder. The great selection of clothing and accessories make it a great place for shopping. If you get hungry well they have food as shopping can make one quite hungry. If you get tired you can sit in the seating area inside and admire the art and stained glass. Or you can go to the rooftop and enjoy the open air at the garden. It is truly beautiful I could spend my whole day there and feel at peace, Japan truly knows how to elevate the shopping experience.

When it comes to buying fabric looking online might not be the best choice so most people flood the stores looking for the perfect fabric. In america unless you live in LA or NYC there arent many options and you just have to take what is given. Having gone to places like mood in LA and dongdaemun in South korea I can confidently say Nippori fabric town is my favorite shopping place for fabrics and patterns. The lay out of the stores are easy to follow and in no way overwhelming. The beautiful array of textiles in all textures and colors. An interesting thing about this town is each shop is dedicated to certain aspects, for example one store might focus on furs while across the street a store for jersey fabrics. Theres even a store for buttons and one for bag accessories. Wheter you are an experienced semestres/tailor, a fashion student, or just doing a DIY project this cute town is truly a wonderland and the employees at each store are incredibly helpful to help you find your prefect fabric.
