Very sad to hear about Roo..
I remember that I first met him at a gig at the contemporary cafe when I had just started out. He walked up to me and shoved a camera in my face with a blurry picture of me staring at the stage 😅
It was because of guys like him and Ralph Barklam that that I felt the confidence and inspiration to somehow push myself into the crazy talented world of the Notts music scene!
I miss those squashed evenings in Jamcafé and running around festivals like Waterfront knowing I’d meet up with him at some point for the rest of the day. I remember there was even a running joke at some point that I was his son 😅
I’m also sad that I lost contact with him after moving to Japan. He would always send YouTube links to artists that he was following or gig recommendations even after I wasn’t in Notts anymore.
A true legend (and sometimes nuisance) and well deserved that people are sharing his work now!
I’m sure he’s snapping pics of us from up the clouds now without us knowing like the good old days 🥲
The first thing I could find to post was from one of the acoustic rooms birthday gigs where he gave me his camera while he went to the bar and it was only fair that we took a bunch of selfies before he got back just to be sure!
