【お蔭様で５周年！We are Five!】合同会社Go! Kagoshimaは 9月1日で設立５周年を迎えることができました。「世界と鹿児島をつなぐ」を掲げる私たち。コロナ禍は世界との関わり方を大きく変えました。時差はあっても国境のないデジタルの世界はますます繋がっています。

今年はオリンピック・パラリンピックが開催されました。私どもGo! Kagoshimaチームも7月に鹿児島市が五輪ホストタウンとして迎え入れた南アフリカ代表ラグビーチームの通訳リエゾンとして世界的プロアスリート達の人間力と精神性の強さに触れ、インスパイアされました。鹿児島に到着するなり陽性判明で入院し、病室からオンラインで選手達に指示を出していらしたニール・パウエル監督が自らの不安もそっちのけで選手達を鼓舞し「オリンピックはメンタルの闘い。選手の勝ち負けや得点数より彼らの人間性を高めることが監督の1番の使命だと思う」と語っていたことが心に響いています。地球の反対側から来た南アフリカの方々と心を通わすお仕事の機会もこの仕事の醍醐味です。

５周年目の今、あらためて弊社を信頼し育んでくださるクライアント様方、コラボする事でお互い一社では不可能な事を可能にしてくださるパートナー企業のみなさま、常に進化が目覚ましい協業パートナーのステープルトン英会話とSTORi Studiosチーム、そして設立当初から支えてくれたスタッフのマヤに感謝の気持ちをお伝えしたい。ありがとうございます！

Go! Kagoshima celebrated our 5th anniversary on September 1st. "Connecting Kagoshima to the World" is our mission. COVID-19 changed the way we connect to the world digitally: there are no borders, just time differences.

Our 5th year was an Olympic and Paralympic year. Team Go! Kago worked as translator/ liaison officers to assist communication between Kagoshima City with South Africa rugby team for their training in our city. We were greatly inspired by the pro athletes' warm humanity and mental strength under duress. Particularly touched by the values expressed by head coach Neil Powell who had to be hospitalized in Kagoshima due to covid-19. He was giving strategic directions and coaching to the team online from his hospital bed, and while he had his own conditions to worry about, he was firing up the team, inspiring them that this is mental than physical, so bring on the giants! Neil told me he believes that his success as a head coach lies not in how many wins, but how much players grew as a person. Wow!
Our joy in the work we do is precisely this: to have opportunities being touched by humanity from the other side of the earth.

I am grateful to our clients for trusting us and helping us grow, our collaborators for challenging with us to make possible what we can't accomplish alone, our agile and progressive business partners at Stapleton Eikaiwa and STORi Studios for supporting us, and Maya, our bilingual project manager, for being the guiding light. 鹿児島県が主催するビジネスプランコンテスト。土曜日無事終了しました。代表門田も４人の審査員の一人として携わりましたが、ファイナリストのみなさん素晴らしいプレゼンで、順位を決めるのに苦労しました。受賞者のみなさん、おめでとうございました！発表者のみなさん、お疲れ様でした。事業への情熱の炎を絶やさないで、実現に向けて頑張ってください。

【顧問先のご案内: 鹿児島第一中学校・高等学校
Our consulting client: Kagoshima Daiichi Junior High School & High School 】
今年6月から霧島市にある鹿児島第一中学校・高等学校の外部顧問として代表門田がグローバル化及び学校改善のお手伝いをさせていただいています。今週10月5日土曜日に開催されるこの私立中高一貫の中学校のオープンスクールでは、原口副校長、山口教頭の学校紹介の後、私も外部から見た鹿児島第一中学校の魅力とポテンシャルについてお話しします。ご興味のある方は是非お越しください。

Since June, Akiko Kadota has been consulting with Kagoshima Daiichi Junior High School and High School in Kirishima City in their effort to globalize and improve overall school performance.

Daiichi Jr. High will hold an Open School day, this Saturday, October 5th. I will be speaking from my outside perspective about what makes Daiichi special and its potential to shine.
Join me and Acting Principal Mr. Haraguchi, Vice Principal Mr. Yamaguchi, prospective students and parents to learn more about the school.

【かごしま創志塾　Kagoshima Soshijuku】
Go! Kagoshima ではグローバルな教育のためのセミナーやワークショップのご要望も多く、鹿児島市の青少年育成事業「かごしま創志塾」は構想段階から携わらせていただき５期目になりました。市内中高生の有志が自ら手を挙げ、グローバルな社会でリーダーとして生きていけるための合宿型プログラム。私はグローバルコミュニケーションの講座を受け持ち、昨年からスタートした小学生向けの「ジュニア創志塾」ではマヤが英会話講師として子供達に英語を楽しく学んでもらっています。
学校だけでは学べない貴重な社会体験、仲間づくり、英語漬けでサバイバル、など素晴らしいプログラムが詰まった事業です。この事業を経験した学生さんたちがどんな大人になるか、楽しみです。

Go! Kagoshima gets a fair amount of requests to speak at seminars or workshops about global education. Kagoshima City has a fantastic summer camp program for junior and high school students to nurture independent, global-thinking leaders. I have been part of this Kagoshima Soshijuku program, in its 5th year, since its conceptual stage. I also teach a “Globalization and Communication“ workshop. A “Junior” program started last year for the elementary students; Maya teaches English Conversation.

The programs are filled with learning from exceptional professionals, nurturing friendship, surviving days speaking only
English and so on. We truly enjoy working with kids with high aspirations, and can’t wait to see how they will turn out as adults.
