Important Update: New Travel & Residency Rules for Japan
If you're planning to visit or live in Japan, here are two major updates you should know about:
✈️ Starting by March 2028
JESTA: New Pre-Travel Authorization Required
Japan will introduce JESTA (Japan Electronic System for Travel Authorization), similar to the U.S. ESTA system.
Travelers from visa-exempt countries will need to complete an online authorization before boarding their flight.
You’ll need to provide:
• Occupation
• Purpose of travel
• Accommodation details
Airlines will verify your JESTA approval before boarding.
No JESTA approval = No boarding.
A small application fee will apply.
Make sure to include this step in your future travel planning.
