🍲🇯🇵 LOVE MISO SOUP? THESE SIMPLE TRICKS MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE.

Miso soup looks simple—but how you prepare it matters. 👇

🌿 My go-to version:
🥣 1 L water
🌿 1 piece kombu (10 × 10 cm)
🍵 1–1½ tsp dashi powder
⬜ 300 g soft tofu
🥄 4 tbsp miso paste
🌱 Green onion

✨ The key steps:
1️⃣ Soak kombu in cold water for 20–30 min.
2️⃣ Heat slowly and remove the kombu just before boiling.
3️⃣ Add dashi and tofu; simmer gently for ~2 min.
4️⃣ Turn off the heat before adding miso. Dissolve it through a strainer.
5️⃣ Finish with green onion. 🌱

♻️ My slightly unconventional trick: I slice the soaked kombu and put it back into the soup instead of throwing it away. Traditional miso soup often uses wakame, but I hate wasting good ingredients—and the kombu is delicious!

🇯🇵 Simple ingredients. Better technique. Deeper umami.

💬 Kombu or wakame—which one would you choose? 👇

🇯🇵🫘 JAPAN DIDN’T JUST PRESERVE FOOD—IT MASTERED THE ART OF FERMENTATION.

For centuries, fermentation has transformed simple ingredients into some of the foundations of Japanese cuisine:

🥢 Miso → fermented soybean paste packed with umami
🐟 Katsuobushi → fermented, smoked & dried bonito that helps create dashi
🫘 Natto → fermented soybeans with its unmistakable sticky texture
🍶 Beyond these → soy sauce, pickles, sake, amazake & more

But fermentation is about more than flavor.

It represents food preservation, craftsmanship, patience, microbial transformation and knowledge passed between generations.

🌱 Simple ingredients. Time. Microorganisms. Tradition.

The result? A cuisine where umami is built—not simply added.

🇯🇵 This is the science of fermentation meeting centuries of culture.

💬 Which would you try first: MISO, NATTO or KATSUOBUSHI? 👇

🎆🇯🇵 IN JAPAN, FIREWORKS AREN’T JUST FIREWORKS. THEY TELL A STORY.

For a few seconds, hanabi (花火) transforms the night sky—and reminds people that beauty can be powerful precisely because it is temporary. 🌌✨

But fireworks become even more meaningful when experienced through matsuri (祭り)—Japan’s festivals.

🏮 Matsuri → community, tradition & celebration
🎆 Hanabi → beauty, impermanence & remembrance
⛩️ Shrines & rituals → spiritual traditions
🌸 Seasons → connection with nature
🥁 Music & dance → cultural identity
🍡 Festival food → local flavors & social gathering
🤝 Community → generations coming together
🎨 Fireworks craftsmanship → art, precision & heritage

Some festivals celebrate harvests, seasons, local deities and community, while others carry historical or memorial significance.

So when you watch fireworks in Japan, you’re not simply watching explosions in the sky.

You’re watching culture being performed in real time. 🇯🇵

🌸 Beauty. Memory. Community. Tradition.

💬 Have you experienced a Japanese fireworks festival? Which one would you love to see? 🎆👇

🇷🇼✨ DID YOU KNOW KIGALI’S MOST ICONIC DOME TELLS A RWANDAN STORY?

The glowing Kigali Convention Centre is more than modern architecture. 🏙️

Its distinctive dome draws inspiration from the form of a traditional Rwandan royal residence, creating a powerful connection between heritage and modernity.

👑 Traditional inspiration → 🏗️ Modern architecture → 🌍 Global landmark

And Rwanda’s story doesn’t stop at architecture. 🇷🇼

💃 Traditional dance brings history, identity and talent to life—showing how culture can remain vibrant while a country moves confidently into the future.

This is what cultural preservation can look like:
Not putting tradition in a museum, but building it into the future.

🚫 Plastic-bag restrictions → a stronger culture of environmental responsibility
🤝 Community participation → shared responsibility and trust
🏙️ Modern Kigali → organized streets, growing infrastructure and vibrant urban life
❤️ Rwandan hospitality → a warm welcome for visitors

This year-2026, the Minato Mirai Fireworks Festival will be held on Monday, August 24, as the “Minato Mirai Festival in Support of Yokohama Green Expo” ✨ The event runs from 19:10 to 19:50 (approx. 40 minutes; venue opening times vary), and the display will feature around 18,000 fireworks.
While the duration has been extended from last year’s 25 minutes to 40 minutes, I expect it to be a spectacular show filled with one climax after another ✨
I’m really looking forward to it! 😊

Location: Kanagawa, Japan

I look forward to seeing your wonderful shots.
