There’s no greater joy than seeing the success of a vision that once began as an idea. When results speak for themselves, they remind us why collaboration, innovation, and dedication matter. This week, the World Bank is conducting the Implementation Completion Mission for the Kenya Industry and Entrepreneurship Project (KIEP) under the SKIES Program. At this mission’s first stopover, the team visited the E4Impact Entrepreneurship Center in Kenya to review achievements, outcomes, and progress toward sustainability and closure.
Over the years, the SKIES initiative has empowered innovators, strengthened institutions, and driven inclusive growth across Kenya. The results tell a powerful story:
56 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒎𝒔 developed 129 𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔, including 127 new or improved digital products.
412 𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒔 benefited, nearly 𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒇 (49.5%) being women-led.
1,412 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒔 trained (46% women), exceeding project targets by 46%.
58% of tech boot camp graduates were women, surpassing gender inclusion goals.
648 𝒏𝒆𝒘 𝒋𝒐𝒃𝒔 created through incubation, acceleration, and training programs.
84% 𝒃𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝒔𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒔𝒇𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, reflecting strong engagement and tangible value.
These achievements reaffirm SKIES’ lasting impact on Kenya’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
As we reflect on this journey, we express our gratitude to the World Bank and the Ministry of Investments,Trade and Industry for their continued partnership and visionary support. We look forward to future collaborations that will continue unlocking opportunities for Kenyan innovators and entrepreneurs.
