On Friday, 4th September 2026, we held an environmental education session at High Vision Academy in Mnarani from 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM. The main focus was on tree planting and mangrove restoration, highlighting their importance in climate action, biodiversity, and coastal protection. Learners also explored the subtopic of trees and plants, where they studied different types of trees, their parts, and the distinction between edible and non-edible plants. To reinforce this knowledge, students were assigned to draw trees/plants categorized as edible and non-edible. The session strengthened awareness of environmental stewardship, linking waste management, tree planting, and ecosystem restoration, while encouraging creativity and community responsibility.

KILIFI YOUTH DIALOGUE - PROGRESS MEETING WITH DEPUTY GOVERNOR

Today, our organization, as part of the Executive Committee of the Kilifi Youth Dialogue, represented by Steven Otieno (Chairperson) and Salma Juma (Communications Lead), joined a consultative meeting with the Deputy Governor of Kilifi County H.E Hon. Flora Mbetsa Chibule at her office.

We shared the progress and achievements of the Kilifi Youth Dialogue and explored areas of partnership with her office. We also discussed the successful mobilization of youth across Kilifi County.

The meeting was very fruitful. H.E appreciated our work and challenged us to strengthen our engagement with data and evidence to make our advocacy more powerful and credible. She also encouraged us to visit the Department of Youth Affairs to explore collaboration.

We sincerely thank H.E for her warm reception and commitment to partner with us to advance the youth agenda.

On Saturday, we joined the Youth Forum Dialogue at Vihendo CBO in Majaoni, which focused on business and entrepreneurship. The session was a joint collaboration among different youth organizations, bringing together diverse voices and perspectives. The keynote speaker, Francis Thoya, founder of Samaki Cookies, shared his inspiring journey and emphasized the importance of young people engaging in sustainable business ventures that can support their livelihoods.

The dialogue provided practical insights into how youths can transform ideas into enterprises, build resilience through sustainable practices, and create opportunities that uplift both themselves and their communities. It was a powerful session that highlighted the role of collaboration and entrepreneurship in shaping a brighter future for the youth.

The session focused on practical waste-management practices, including waste separation at source, proper disposal, and household environmental responsibility. Residents also shared challenges such as illegal dumping, inadequate disposal areas, and limited knowledge of waste management.

Together, we agreed to strengthen community efforts through door-to-door sensitization, ensuring environmental responsibility reached the household level.

Door-to-Door Environmental Sensitization

Today, Baha Madzo Gadze for Charity, in collaboration with village elders through the Assistant Chief’s Office, conducted a door-to-door environmental sensitization campaign.

We engaged households on responsible waste management, including waste separation at source and proper disposal at designated municipal areas.

Together, we are building cleaner, healthier and more responsible communities.

Baha Madzo Gadze for Charity joined community stakeholders for a dialogue and mural handover, discussing the mural’s message and its role in promoting awareness, positive values, unity, and collective responsibility.
