*All Things New*
*Lesson 14*
*Memory Text: Revelation 21:5*
Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me,[b] “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
*SABBATH* : The Bible assures us of a world of beauty which no artist can picture & no mortal tongue can describe—a new heavens & a new earth (2 Pet. 3:13). Some have abused this future hope for the saints; see it as a fantasy & people in power have used it to give false hope to those they oppress. Yet, no mockery can change the truth about this blessed hope (2 Pet. 3:3-7). Death & tears will end.
*SUNDAY* : Human language can’t describe the new heaven & new earth. It is a world devoid of sin; one where Jews & Gentiles live together. Some lovers of Greek philosophy find it hard to accept this because they see heaven as a purely spiritual state, free from the physical world. But Isaiah gives us how earth would be like if Israel obeyed God (Deut. 28; Isa. 65:17-25; 66:22, 23; 2 Pet. 3:13; Rev. 21:1-5; Heb. 11:14-16).
*MONDAY* : The earthly sanctuary/temple was a miniature of the heavenly sanctuary/temple. The temple of God/heavenly temple has always been the place where the heavenly hosts worship God. It became a place where Christ minister to save us after sin (Rev. 4:2-6, 7:9-15, 15:5-8, 7:9-15, 21:22). When sin is over, it’ll revert to its original role. John seeing “no temple” means we’ll have open communion with God.
*TUESDAY* : In the past we “see through a glass darkly” but in heaven we shall have face-to-face communion with God. The saints will see God. The Fall/Sin which kept man from seeing God will be over (1 Tim. 6:16, John 1:18, 1 John 4:12, 3:2, 3, Matt. 5:8, Rev. 23:3, 4). Thus, we shall have the privilege to worship God in His temple & also see His face—be in God’s presence (1 Cor. 13:12, GC, pp. 676, 677).
