Asus Showcases a Multi-Feature PB279Q Monitor

The first 4K Ultra HD monitors cost a pretty penny for real enthusiasts. Sometimes the price tag approximated several thousand dollars! Luckily, with the advancement of a new technology, the input has been dramatically reduced, so the end price nowadays does not exceed $1.000. Asus is not an exclusion. Its latest 27-inch PC monitor, entitled PB279Q, costs only $799 without prejudice to efficiency. Therewith, it offers all the privileges 4K displays boast.

Asus PB279Q is powered by a high-quality IPS array with a 10-bit color mapping depth. It ensures the widest possible viewing angles (178/178 degrees), 100% color gamut in sRGB environment, and 5 ms response time. The latter allows for the prime imaging in action games and movies. The display features 16:9 aspect ratio and 3840x2160 pixels resolution on DisplayPort/mini-DisplayPort connection. Moreover, thanks to the implementation of WLED, the model consumes less power on high workload.

To continue, this monitor is able to display up to 1.07 billion colors at the maximum of 300 cd/m2 brightness. It boasts some striking dynamic contrast in SmartContrast mode – 100.000.000:1. Sound production is realized due to a pair of inbuilt speakers (2 W); the availability of two audio ports enables the connection of a headset. The list of video interfaces counts four HDMI ports (MHL support), one DisplayPort, and one mini-DisplayPort.

The display is housed on a multifunction stand. The latter allows changing the height, rotating and swiveling the screen as well as altering its pitch. Furthermore, PB279Q is rich in multiple useful facilities which enhance an overall efficiency. Those facilities include the support for PiP/PbP running modes and a set of Asus’ brand technologies: QuickFit, GamePlus, VividPixel, SplendidPlus, EyeCare.

Biostar, Taiwanese PC hardware guru, has recently launched a new mini-ITX motherboard entitled J1800NH2. The greenhorn is targeting mini-desktop entry-level systems, as well as field-specific platforms, such as information boards, point-of-sale terminals, slim clients, etc. It is compatible with Windows 7/8/8.1 OS and boasts the availability of capacitors with solid-state electrolyte. The recommended retail price makes up $76.

Biostar J1800NH2 is based on Bay Trail-D platform and comes with an integrated 4-core Intel Celeron J1800 processor, featuring 2 MB cache (L2). The CPU operates at 2.41 GHz clock frequency but might be overclocked up to 2.58 GHz margin. The model also boasts an integrated Intel HD Graphics chip that runs at 668 MHz (nominal)/792 MHz (overclocked) frequency. It is cooled by a small-sized aluminum heatsink, sustaining the specified 10 W TDP level.

To continue, this motherboard is equipped with two SO-DIMM slots for the installation of DDR3-1333 MHz memory modules of 16 GB maximal capacity. Expansion facilities are introduced by a single PCI 2.0 x1 slot, whereas network subsystem operates under the control of Realtek RTL8111G gigabit Ethernet controller. Storage subsystem offers a pair of SATA 3 Gb/sec ports, while connectivity is supported by a single USB 3.0 port, four USB 2.0 ports, a couple of video ports (HDMI and D-Sub). The Realtek ALC662 controller ensures eligible activity of audio subsystem.

It should be noted that the new-comer supports proprietary BIOS Flasher, BIO-Remote2 and BIOS Online Update technologies, as well as Charger Booster option. The latter provides for the acceleration of charge-in process of all connected via USB interface devices.
