Kenya was the first in Africa to introduce a Gender Policy in Energy. The Policy is cognizant of gender challenges in the energy sector such as inadequate gender responsive institutional frameworks and gender neutral energy policies, plans & budgets at both the National and County Government levels. It seeks to achieve gender equality and equity by enhancing inclusivity in access to energy services for both women, men, youth and persons with disabilities.

The Policy deals with gender parity in line with access to sustainable energy, and seeks to strengthen institutional frameworks for gender equality in the energy sector at both National and County levels, even going further to promote clean cooking solutions and environmental sustainability.

The National Energy Policy, 2019 also provides insights on gender inclusivity in energy institutions, so does the Kenya National Electrification Strategy, a roadmap to achieve universal access to electricity as a key plank of powering the country’s development agenda.

Under Pakistan's "Look Africa Policy", the Government of Pakistan organized a Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference held in Nairobi on 30th and 31st January 2020. It brought together a high level delegation from Pakistan, and public and private sector investors from all over Africa in one place to explore and interact for the benefits of the trade and investment.

The choice of the host country was a great show of confidence in Kenya as a trade powerhouse in East Africa. The highlight for me was meeting DevBatch CEO, Waqas Khan Pitafi . DevBatch creates digital solutions for Web, Mobility on premise and over the cloud across global clients including Fortune 500 companies like Pepsi, Staples and Keurig from USA. His charisma and humility as a CEO was humbling, something to emulate. It was a pleasure taking the Devbatch team to Nairobi National Park to experience magical Kenya.
