A MUST READ ‼️‼️

Over the past month, Mercy Outreaches has been making a profound difference in Mathare area 4B. We have had some of our partners visit COHAT to counsel and pray with those affected by the recent floods and demolitions. Through the initiatives at COHAT, we have had many families helped to relocate and start over their settlement within and without Mathare.

Many of them are individuals who've lost their livelihoods and thus are beginning to 'hustle' afresh. They struggle daily to put food on the table and thus the support to have some basic needs met in the short run came in handy.

Given the open approach of our outreaches, we have had very positive reception to the Gospel. Food and Supplies have softened hearts towards making decisions to get born again- and last weekend was a great success. The ripple effect of this simple act of kindness is immeasurable.

I am humbled at the open door we have- I trust that with time, we will have more partners joining in to participate in 'Spending time' with the community.

I will let you know when next we will visit- to follow up and pray with the different people that God avails to us!

June 10 UPDATE

Seemingly all is quiet and life has gone back to normal in most parts of our nation weeks after the 'Flooding' News highlights had become monotonous- Ofcourse, the general public moves on and life goes back to normal.

But, thats not it for those who are directly affected by such life altering realities; for many, lives never go back to normal. Some are left with lifelong scars that might never be told in public- Trauma, pain, betrayal....you can name it all!

This past week- newspapers were lightly capturing realities in the informal settlement areas in the wake of flooding, but today- this page caught my attention!
And my heart just felt pain...
And I wondered, who is walking alongside this family and many others who's stories have not been told?
Who is praying for them?
Who is visiting and offering hope?

We are having a MercyOutreaches drive *this coming Saturday(June 15, 2024)* at Mathare- beyond and above counselors; we need compassionate individuals that can be the hands and mouth and feet that will minister to families in the area we have been taking supplies.

Bulk of families that had been rendered homeless are now settled. We will share statistics to demonstrate that no financial and material gift sent was in vain. THAT INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES THAT WE MIGHT NEVER MEET WERE BLESSED BECAUSE YOU GAVE!

May 28 Update

Just when we thought we were almost at the end tail, Demolitions begun! Last week was a particularly tough time for Pst Aseka and the Mathare community at large! According to him, it was the first time he was 'truly scared'. I think part of it is as a result of unexpected lack of accommodation for more than 5 times those that had been directly affected by the floods!

According to him, the effect of the flood was like a drop in the bucket!
The physical needs have multiplied....
The psychological support needed, enormous!

So what?
We are mobilizing;
- Financial support
- Household items
- Psychological support (trauma counselors)
- Spiritual (Prayer) support

Our giving channels remain the same.

Good day...
Trusting that by the grace of God you are well.

So far....am grateful for the support received... The grace extended to those who need our help.... I am humbled that we are part of the Hand, Feet that the Lord can use to reach out to others.

Today, COHAT church service was full of testimony of the doing of the Lord- because most of them have "Literally seen the Lord" meet their needs....

A reminder, we are giving;

- Your items - whatever you have and are not using(as per the poster and more)
- Financial support
