AN ILLUSION OF CHOICE.
Kenyans are getting excited as the electioneering day draws closer with each passing day.
Most, if not everyone has already decided whom to vote for as their preferred presidential candidate in the forthcoming general elections.. and there lies the illusion of choice;
Their supposed choice was made for them with or without their consent nor knowledge along time ago. What do I mean by this?
For one, the contest being narrowed down to be a two horse race & gradually & right from the onset.
The fact that there're only two highly sensationalised presidential contenders, is in itself a huge deprivation and an infringement on everyone's democratic rights.
Whether you choose Raila or Ruto is a CHOICE long MADE for you..and you hear some people chest thumping about how they're going to exercise their "democratic right" by voting in "their preferred candidate".
Candidates preferred over others by others, narrowed down to two and presented to you through various forms of manipulations with the media houses as accomplices and others e.g wide spread inferences & insinuations by high profile individuals in the society like the clergymen, Sheikhs & financiers who rather remain anonymous.
You get my point? Ama umefloat juu umefikishwa hapo walipo kupangie ukue by now after their onslaught, manipulations & thorough brainwashing!
Otherwise,....
Mbona options zingine that had been floated earlier on hazikufaulu kufika kwenye ballot? Not only were they better options but they were capable & upto the task.
Remember, there was a time not long ago we entertained presidencies of akina Kivutha Kibwana, Otiende Amollo, Mukhisa Kitui, James Orengo na hata Ali Hassan Joho.
What happened,..
Video leak highly sensationalised, state House summons, party NDCs na ghafla bin vu, they were no where to be seen nor heard.
They got lost in the crowd chanting the names of the ONLY TWO presidential contenders as well.
Joining the fray of choosing between the TWO gentlemen CHOSEN for us all.
Was it by design or default? Your guess is as good as mine.
SO....
My advice to you all is to take Solace in the fact that it doesn't matter whether your "preferred candidate" wins or losses in coming elections, as the candidate you thought you choose was not entirely of your choosing in the first place!
IF ONLY ALL THE OTHER SERIOUS CONTENDERS WERE ON THE LIST AS IT OUGHT TO HAVE BEEN, IF ONLY!
