Celebrating the Orchestra behind my song in 2022.
An Orchestra is an arrangement of instrumentalists that backs up the singer to bring out the harmony in a song, tune or music. An orchestra enables a singer become adept at picking out cues in their music and to give it the balance for collective melody. Often, the orchestra is in the background, behind the scenes, goes unnoticed yet the drummer provides rhythm and the beat, dictating the tempo and transitions, the lead guitarist gives that unique sound supported by the rhythm that gives accompaniment chords. Then the saxophonist (My best) brings versatility. In the ensemble, I am only a lead vocalist though the prominent and dominant sound.
Looking back at 2022, I set to pivot on what I’d built in 2020/21. With a profile and visibility that I yearned, 2023 is the year I turn the corner.... giving me a measure of excitement and anxiety. But would I be in this spot without help? Certainly not.
The Congo Colossus, Le Grand Maitre, Franco Luambo Luanzo Makiadi of TPOK jazz would not have made it without Le-poet & song writer Simaro Simasiya Lutumba, Seigneur Tabu Ley Rochereau of Afrisa International would have been off without Mekanisi Modero (sax), Pepe Kalle Yampanya would have been flat without Dilu Mona (Animation – Atalaku), Nancy “lite” Ronald Reagan presidency and Alice Muringayi made Oliver Mtukudzi. In the rendition Kaokoko Korobo, Papa Wemba of Viva la Musica would have had no impact without Yves Demukuata (lead guitar). Drew Bundini sensationalized former World Heavyweight Boxing Champion Mohammed Ali (The GOAT) corner making us adore him. Think Salif Keita of Mali, or Fally Ipupa with Bienvenue Konga on konga drums.
Making music the authentic and traditional way is a colossal task. My music in 2022 was directed and arranged for me to great effect. She also took to the drums consolidating all moving parts in my song sometimes unbeknown to me. On extended periods of time, she was the wind below my wings allowing me to soar unrelentingly like an eagle when I fly. Like Lutumba at TPOK jazz, she made me dare, bringing my music to life....... Ladies and Gentlemen, I celebrate my gorgeous and loving wife Irene Chami for taking this journey with me and pushing me beyond my limit.
My song reverberates because of the orchestra you bring into my life. Thank you love..... Be Blessed.
With the greatest appreciation......
