‘Youth Captain’ Takes Command — Kimutai Korir Wins ‘Beacon of New Leadership: Male’ at BOBEA 2026

BARINGO / NAIROBI — In Baringo, they call him “Youth Captain.” On Saturday night, the rest of Kenya learned why.

Kimutai Korir emerged winner of the Beacon of New Leadership: Male category at the 2nd Edition of the BOBEA Leadership and Governance Awards, held at the *CUEA Auditorium in Nairobi.

It was one of the most competitive categories of the night. But Korir carried the day on the strength of results, not rhetoric.

Well known across Baringo for championing a string of successful youth initiatives, Kimutai has built his brand on action: skills training, mentorship programs, sports and agribusiness projects that put young people to work and into leadership.

BOBEA judges cited _“grassroots mobilization, impact, and bold vision”_ in awarding him the honor, noting that new leadership is defined by what you build before you ask for votes.

That work has now put him on a bigger stage. Kimutai has declared his intention to run for Baringo Governor in the next election — a move that positions the Youth Captain to take the county-level agenda he started in the wards all the way to the top.

Now in its second year, the BOBEA Awards spotlight leaders who are redefining governance in Kenya.

On Saturday night, that definition wore a Baringo tag: Kimutai Korir. The Youth Captain, now a national award winner, and a name to watch in 2027.

A Rising Voice Honored — Roseline Alionya Takes 2nd Runners-Up ‘Beacon of New Leadership: Female’ at BOBEA 2026

NAIROBI — In a category created to spotlight tomorrow’s leaders, the night belonged to those already laying the groundwork.

Roseline Alionya emerged 2nd Runners-Up in the Beacon of New Leadership: Female category at the *2nd Edition of the BOBEA Leadership and Governance Awards held at the CUEA Auditorium.

At a time when young women are demanding more than symbolic representation, Alionya has carved her space in the conversation — advocating for youth inclusion, mentorship, and accountable leadership both in her community and beyond.

Her work has focused on giving young people, especially girls, a pathway into leadership: through civic education, policy engagement, and creating platforms where new voices are heard, not just echoed.

BOBEA judges cited _“vision, resilience, and commitment to new leadership”_ in recognizing her, noting that leadership is measured not just by titles, but by the impact made on the ground.

Now in its second year, the BOBEA Awards continue to honor leaders who are redefining governance and public service in Kenya — those willing to do the work before the spotlight finds them.

On Saturday night, that recognition landed on Roseline Alionya. A new voice, a steady presence, and proof that the future of leadership is already here.

The Face of a New Era — Wanjiku Thiga Wins ‘Beacon of New Leadership: Female’ at BOBEA 2026

NAIROBI — In a category built to recognize tomorrow’s leaders today, the trophy went to the woman already doing the work.

Wanjiku Thiga, National Youth Chairperson of the DCP Party, emerged winner of the Beacon of New Leadership: Female category at the 2nd Edition of the BOBEA Leadership and Governance Awards held at the CUEA Auditorium.

At a time when youth voices are demanding more than just a seat at the table, Thiga has positioned herself at the center of the conversation — both within her party and on the national stage.

As DCP’s youth chair, she has been relentless in pushing the youth agenda: from policy inclusion and political mentorship, to jobs, civic education, and party reforms that put young people in decision-making rooms, not just campaign rallies.

BOBEA judges cited _“vision, courage, and tangible impact”_ in awarding her the honor, noting that new leadership is measured not by age alone, but by action.

The BOBEA Awards, now in their second year, were created to spotlight leaders who are redefining governance and public service in Kenya.

On Saturday night, that definition had a name: Wanjiku Thiga. A youthful leader, carrying a big mandate, and winning national recognition for it.

: From Kibra to the National Stage — Yasmin Mohamed Takes 1st Runners-Up as Community Change Maker at BOBEA 2026

NAIROBI — Her work began in the alleys of Kibra. On Saturday night, it was honored on Kenya’s biggest stage for governance and leadership.

Yasmin Mohamed was named 1st Runners-Up* in the Community Change Maker category at the 2nd Edition of the BOBEA Leadership and Governance Awards, held at the *CUEA Auditorium.

The recognition adds to an already decorated record of service. Yasmin is a former Thamani Africa Award winner and has been recognized as a hero by the Government of Kenya for her relentless work to empower the girl child — first in Kibra, and now far beyond.

Through grassroots mentorship, school programs, and advocacy, she has spent years giving girls access to education, dignity, and a voice in spaces that once overlooked them.

The award was presented to her by BOBEA Liaison Officer Ms. Husna Zaid, in a ceremony that brought together leaders, policymakers, and changemakers from across the country.

BOBEA judges cited _“grassroots impact, consistency, and courage”_ in selecting Yasmin, noting that real change often starts where the need is greatest.

Now in its second year, the BOBEA Awards continue to spotlight leaders whose work transforms communities from the ground up.

For Yasmin Mohamed, the night was proof that service in Kibra can echo all the way to the national stage.

17 Years of Quiet Work, One Loud Night — Dr. Anita Nyanjong Wins BOBEA Community Change Maker Award

NAIROBI — Some awards are won in a year. Others are earned in a lifetime.

At the 2nd Edition of the BOBEA Leadership and Governance Awards held at the CUEA Auditorium, the Community Change Maker 2026 trophy went to Dr. Anita Nyanjong, founder of the Let Girls Learn Initiative.

For the last 17 years, Dr. Nyanjong has worked away from the cameras. Her mission has been simple and stubborn: keep girls in school, give them mentorship, and break the cycle of poverty through education.

That quiet work finally had its national moment.

Dressed for the occasion, Dr. Nyanjong walked onto the stage accompanied by her younger twin sisters — both lawyers, just like her. It was a family of women in law, walking in solidarity with a woman in service.

When her name was called, she didn’t just take the trophy. She took the room.
In a brief but powerful address, Dr. Nyanjong narrated her journey — from grassroots school visits, to scholarships, to advocacy — and dedicated the award to the thousands of girls whose resilience built the Let Girls Learn movement.

BOBEA judges cited _“sustained impact, community transformation, and commitment to the girl child”_ as the reasons she stood out in a highly competitive category.

The BOBEA Awards, now in their second year, continue to shine a light on leaders whose work may not make headlines daily, but changes lives permanently.

On Saturday night, 17 years of service turned into one prestigious trophy. And Dr. Anita Nyanjong took it home.

‘Ruto’s Loudest Voice Online’ — Sally Raghet Crowned Best Political Influencer at BOBEA 2026

NAIROBI — What was once dismissed as “Twitter politics” is now a profession. And at the 2nd Edition of the BOBEA Leadership and Governance Awards, it took center stage.

The Political Influencer 2026 category was one of the most contested of the night, drawing Kenya’s sharpest digital voices who shape opinion, drive narratives, and mobilize voters from their phones.

When the results were announced at the CUEA Auditorium, one name rose above the rest:
Sally Raghet — widely known as one of President William Ruto’s most vocal and die-hard supporters online — was crowned Best Political Influencer in Kenya.

Raghet has built her brand on consistency, speed, and unapologetic defense of government policy. From live-tweeting State House events to breaking down complex policy for her thousands of followers, she has turned political commentary into influence with measurable impact.

Her win reflects a broader shift: political influencing is no longer side hustle. It is strategy, messaging, and movement-building.

The award was presented by *gender expert and renowned leader Hon. Aisha Said*, who praised Raghet for _“using her platform to engage citizens, defend policy, and keep leadership accountable to the public conversation.”_

BOBEA judges cited _“reach, consistency, and narrative-shaping power”_ as the metrics that set Raghet apart in a crowded field.

Now in its second year, the BOBEA Awards continue to recognize that leadership in 2026 is not just found in parliament or county assemblies — it’s also built, one post at a time, online.

For Sally Raghet, the crown confirms what many already knew: in Kenya’s digital political arena, she sets the pace.

Dr. Ngina Clinches 2nd Runners-Up Spot for Political Influencer at BOBEA 2026

NAIROBI — Digital politics has a new name to watch.

Dr. Ngina one of Kenya’s most vocal political influencers, was named 2nd Runners-Up in the Political Influencer category at the 2nd Edition of the BOBEA Leadership and Governance Awards* held at the CUEA Auditorium over the weekend.

The award was presented to her by Hon. Aisha Said, in a ceremony that brought together leaders, legislators, and public voices from across the country.

In the last two years, Dr. Ngina has built a reputation for sharp political commentary, issue-based threads, and the ability to shape national conversations online. From policy analysis to grassroots mobilization, her platforms have become a space where politics meets the people.

BOBEA judges noted her _“consistency, reach, and influence in driving civic engagement”_ as key reasons for the recognition in a category that was fiercely contested.

The BOBEA Awards, now in their second year, seek to honor excellence across governance, leadership, and public influence — including the growing role of digital voices in shaping Kenya’s political landscape.

With this national nod, Dr. Ngina cements her place among the country’s leading political commentators shaping opinion beyond the ballot.

‘The New Kid on the Block’ — Prof. Aduol Steals the Show, Wins BOBEA Crown for Best Impersonator

NAIROBI — In a category built for laughter, mimicry, and timing, it was the newcomer who walked away with the trophy.

Professor Aduol, the viral sensation who shot to national fame for his pitch-perfect impersonation of ODM Party Leader Senator Oburu Odinga, has been crowned Best Impersonator at the BOBEA Leadership and Entertainment Awards 2026*.

He didn’t just win. He beat a lineup of established names in Kenyan comedy, including veterans Mammito and Jeymodecin, to take the crown.

What set Prof. Aduol apart was not just the accuracy of the voice, but the nuance. His skits captured Senator Oburu’s cadence, mannerisms, and political wit — earning millions of views online and a permanent spot in Kenya’s political meme culture.

From university stages to national TV, the “professor” has turned impersonation into commentary, using humor to mirror politics back to Kenyans.

BOBEA judges cited _“originality, cultural relevance, and audience impact”_ in awarding him the title ahead of more seasoned performers.

_“For Professor Aduol, this is just the beginning. The future is bright,”_ read part of his citation at the gala held at CUEA over the weekend.

The BOBEA Awards, now in their 2nd edition, continue to expand beyond politics and governance to recognize excellence in entertainment and public influence.

And on Saturday night, the new kid on the block proved that in comedy, as in politics, timing is everything.
