A best practice for any impact measurement work starts with a Theory of Change and a deep understanding of your stakeholders.

KPIs measure the overall results or impact of the work done.

A Theory of Change is a description or illustration of how and why a desired change is expected to happen in a particular context. In other words, how an organisation or project believes it is making a difference or a change with/for their stakeholders.

When looking to measure and test your strategy, setting strong KPIs is vital. Measuring impact related to innovation requires specific KPIs that touch on various aspects of your Theory of Change.

➡ Role:
As a Growth Catalyst, you will support our entrepreneurs and the businesses we work with through their business development journey. Using GrowthAfrica’s proprietary method and tools you will be assigned businesses whom you will assist in thinking through key aspects of their business model, and their strategies – be it product design, marketing, supply chain, or sales and distribution.

➡ Key responsibilities:
- Source the right investable businesses run by ambitious and committed entrepreneurs and maintaining an active pipeline.
- Carrying out due diligence of selected businesses
- Support the entrepreneurs in building their businesses and financial models by assisting in articulating all aspects of their business from the customer, market, and product, etc.
- Facilitate workshops and learning sessions with entrepreneurs. Including support in developing the tools and content required.
- Prepare periodic progress reports for funders, mentors, investors, and other stakeholders.
- Deliver on client projects achieving the desired results on time and in the agreed quality
- Carry out all the needed operational and administrative work around the projects, both external and internal
- Conduct comprehensive research relevant to key sectors in which our entrepreneurs are based.
- Develop and maintain strong client partnerships through effective service delivery.
- Engaging with key stakeholders in our ecosystem

Climate tech companies are pivotal in advancing the global transition to a sustainable economy. By reducing carbon intensity, creating green jobs, and promoting essential technologies, they play a critical role in achieving climate targets. Because of the immense opportunity for innovation, investor interest has continued to grow. According to Statista, from 2018-2023, U.S. venture capital investment in climate tech exceeded $130B, and worldwide clean energy investments grew at an average rate of nearly 25% from 2021-2023 alone.

As entrepreneurs, our ability to inspire action can make or break our journey—whether it’s closing a sale, raising funds, or rallying our team behind a shared vision. And storytelling? It’s the superpower that opens doors to action.
This week at Startup School Nairobi, we were privileged to have the incredible Njeri Ndonga, Founder of Ukwenza VR, share her wisdom on how to use storytelling to inspire action.

Njeri shared powerful examples of how she’s used storytelling to energize her team, attract strategic partners, and secure critical fundraising opportunities. Her session was a masterclass in how storytelling isn’t just an art form—it’s a must-have entrepreneurial skill.
