Copied...
Hi guys, sharing travel experience at DXB Airport to Kenya less than 48hours ago.
*Long Post Alert*
1. Terminal of Travel: Your KQ ticket may say Terminal 1, you will instead travel from Terminal 3 as Terminal 1 is closed and a ghost town. It will cost you another Aed 25 by taxi from Terminal 1 to 3. Suggestion, enda tu Terminal 3.
2. Baggage drop off: Remember how we used to drop off luggage in same building as that of the gates? Ahhhh..Good old times😋. Baggage drop off for KQ is now in a different bulding with dnata assisiting with counters and check in. This is happening in the building opposite the building you remember. You will need your Covid Report (HARD COPY) to get into that building. Save yourself time, effort and money. Get the hard copy from the hospital, otherwise you will start looking for printers at the airport.
The queues are such like you havent seen in recent past..and the quantity of luggage is mind boggling. Most travelers are relocating back home so please make sure you get to the airport in good time. At LEAST 3 hours before travel. Otherwise utakuwa na stress boss.
If you wish to wrap your cargo, this costs aed 30 per bag. Cash. Uptil this point, it must have taken me 2 hours from when I arrived at the airport.
4. Accessing the travel gates: You will then cross back to the main building, show your hard copy boarding pass and passport to the security at the entrance (Otherwise hata hapa huingii). We were assigned to Gate 38 for KQ which is literally at the end of the facility. Prepare yourself to run, run-walk to that gate.
Show your Covid Cert, passport and boarding pass then are ushered down a (what felt like ) 1 km walkway to the shuttle buses. From there, ndege. Flight. Land JKIA. Flight staff will give you 2 forms to fill inflight..covering your biodata, health status etc.
5. On arrival: Show your Covid Cert and the 2 duly filled forms to staff at the exit point from the flight including Port Health. Thermal scanners take your temperature and if you are alright, you get a green light to proceed.
Baggage claim. Customs. Welcome to Kenya.
Ps. While in Kenya, you will be required and prompted to make a daily health check in with MOH via *299 # or via jitenge app. Easy to use. Nice way to track status.
Be safe. ✌
