✅ Causes of Varicocele
A varicocele happens when the valves inside the veins of the sc***um fail or become weak.
These valves normally help blood flow upward toward the heart.
When they fail:
Blood pools in the scrotal veins:
The veins become enlarged and twisted
This leads to pain, heaviness, and testicular changes
This is similar to varicose veins in the legs, but it occurs in the spermatic cord.
✅ Risk Factors of Varicocele
1. Age (usually between 15–35 years)
Varicoceles commonly develop during puberty when blood flow increases to the testicles.
2. Family History
History of varicose veins, hernias, or valve weakness in veins increases the risk.
3. Tall or thin body type
Studies show taller men may have a slightly higher chance of developing varicoceles.
4. Heavy lifting or strenuous physical activity
Pressure increases in the abdominal veins, which can worsen or trigger a varicocele.
5. Conditions that increase abdominal pressure
Such as:
Chronic constipation
Persistent coughing
Being overweight
6. Prolonged standing
This increases venous pressure in the lower body.
7. Blockage of testicular (renal) veins
Rare, but any blockage in the blood flow pathway can cause backflow into the sc***um.
