Inner child healing is a powerful therapeutic approach focused on reconnecting with, validating, and nurturing the younger version of yourself who experienced unmet needs, emotional neglect, criticism, control, or trauma. This work is especially relevant for those dealing with parental wounds—like emotionally absent, critical, or controlling parents—as it helps break cycles of self-criticism, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or emotional numbness.
The core idea is reparenting: giving your younger self the safety, love, validation, and support you may not have fully received.

**A Gentle Reminder for Your Journey**
Healing isn’t about erasing the past—it’s about integrating it so it no longer controls your present. Many people from Kenyan (and similar) backgrounds with hardworking but emotionally distant or critical parents carry deep wounds of “never enough.” You can honor that pain while choosing growth.
Start small. One technique a few times a week can create real shifts. Be patient and celebrate progress.

It’s valid. It shaped you.
But it doesn’t get to define the rest of your life.
Don’t carry it as a crutch.
Don’t use it to justify staying stuck.
Don’t let yesterday steal tomorrow.
Acknowledge the wound.
Feel it. Grieve it.
Then choose to heal.
You are not what was done to you.
You are what you decide to become.
Break the cycle.
Choose growth.
Choose yourself.
Healing is possible.
Growth is non-negotiable.

For those who experienced neglect, criticism, manipulation, or absence instead of nurturing love, this day can bring a flood of conflicting emotions: sadness, anger, guilt, longing, and even shame. The constant media reminders and cultural pressure to honor a mother figure can leave them feeling isolated and unseen in their pain.

If Mother’s Day feels more like a wound than a celebration, know that your feelings are valid. To survive this season, consider limiting exposure to triggering media, setting clear boundaries with family, and planning a day that centers your healing. Connect with others who share similar experiences in support groups or online communities. The Silent Tears of a Child

This video has been making rounds, and honestly, it’s heartbreaking. It highlights a painful reality—when two people bring a child into the world but one chooses to walk away. The weight of that decision doesn’t just rest on the shoulders of the parents; the child carries it too, often in silence.

There are so many layers to this sadness:
1️⃣ Children born outside of wedlock suffer deeply—not because they are any less loved by God, but because they were not born into His original design for family. When a home lacks stability, the child feels it in ways we may never fully understand.
2️⃣ The back and forth, the conflict, the blame game—all of it creates stress, insecurity, and confusion for the child. They are left feeling torn between two worlds, unsure of where they truly belong.
3️⃣ This is how wounds of rejection are formed—when a child grows up with the silent (or spoken) message that they were not wanted, not planned, not prioritized. These wounds don’t just disappear; they grow into deep-seated struggles with self-worth, trust, and love.

As a society, we must do better. As individuals, we must take responsibility for our actions. As believers, we must return to God’s wisdom for relationships, commitment, and family.

To the mothers raising children alone—you are seen, you are loved, and you are not alone. God is near to the brokenhearted, and He is a Father to the fatherless.
To the fathers who have walked away—there is always room for redemption. It is never too late to turn back, to step up, to bring healing where there was hurt.
And to those who have been wounded by rejection, may you find healing in the arms of the One who never leaves nor forsakes.
