Our client is a chemical Processing company, looking to hire a Cost Accountant with excellent organizational and analytical skills. The successful individual is expected to be detailed oriented, knowledgeable on statistics, have strong problem-solving skills, work comfortably under pressure and deliver on tight deadlines.
To ensure success, you should be confident, professional and meticulous with a keen interest in cost-efficient operations of the organization. Top candidates will have outstanding presentation and report-writing skills, with the ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.

Cost Accountant Roles & Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents and records of the organization.
• Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings.
• Prepare and complete internal cost audits.
• Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.
• Analyze the data collected and log a detailed record of the results.
• Analyze any changes in products produced in order to determine what effect it has on the cost.
• Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
• Make estimates of new and proposed product costs.
• Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services.
• Assist in audits and general ledger preparation.
• Conduct physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program.
• Monitor actual v/s budgeted consumption of materials and other variables for control purposes.
• Preparation of an error free and accurate contribution, gross profit and EBITDA analysis on a monthly basis.
• New product costing from time to time as well as scenario-based costing to assist decision making (price and volume scenarios, cost reduction scenarios)
• Monitor and verify raw material costing to ensure correct material prices and product costs are maintained and updated in the system for correct and timely management reports.
• Preparation of timely and accurate profitability reports quarterly (Contribution Margin / GP Margin / EBITDA margin)
• Creation and adjustment of bill of material in ERP system.
Cost Accountant Skills & Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• CPA or CIMA license.
• At least Three (3) years of Cost Accounting work experience (essential).
• Must have prior experience in Manufacturing.
• Sound understanding of Accounting principles.
• Solid cost systems background.
• Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent report-writing, communication and IT skills.

Business Support
1) Support local decision making processes by identifying any opportunities and risks that impact on business
performance as these are identified
2) Give recommendations to improve local business development/efficiency
3) Implement and publish local policies/procedures and other internal control processes where opportunity for

4) Monitor adherence to published local internal controls as well as BDF global guidelines, and report any
material deviations from these when identified.
Reporting and Month-end closing
1) To develop the KPI dashboard for the MU to be reviewed regularly with the management team and the
functional managers in line with MU priorities.
2) To co-ordinate that the monthly closing activities across the MU and ensure that the deadlines for closing
are met.
3) Ensuring all the system submissions are completed accurately and as per the timelines.
4) To manage all the MU reporting requirements to region and corporate office in a timely manner.
5)To develop and ensure daily, weekly, monthly reporting of sales by country, categories.
6) To support the monthly, quarterly, annual business updates, management team reviews.

Planning & forecasting

1) Support the preparation of the financial plan of Management unit CEWA.
2) Co-ordinate the bottom-up planning process for SOI – statement of Income with the functional controlling

3) Guide and coordinate the planning and forecasting of General Expense with other functions and achieve
alignment with management board objectives.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Local experience in Africa
International experience - A must
Prior experience in financial controlling,

GE Controlling

1) Lead the bottom-up planning for general expenses by function and expense head.
2) Ensuring correct cost center accounting for all the general expenses.
3) Managing the back-charge model for all the cost to be charges to other affiliates.
4) Monitor and assess on a monthly basis whether actual business development of General Expenses is on
track with plan/forecast
5) Regular GE review by function and cost head and timeously report any opportunities and risks as they are
identified
6) Actively looking for areas to optimize and save GE by bringing efficiencies.
