What a thrilling finale to the Mashujaa Day Football Tournament! Thousands of passionate fans packed Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret for a showdown that delivered electric energy and spectacular football from start to finish.

It all began at the grassroots, with ward-level teams from Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Elgeyo Marakwet counties, and ended in a heavyweight clash between Wazalendo FC of Uasin Gishu and Iten United FC of Elgeyo Marakwet, with pride, glory and a KSh1 MILLION prize on the line. After 90 minutes of exhilarating action, Wazalendo FC stamped their authority with a commanding 3-0 win to claim the title.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Hon. Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen, who joined us to witness the final and present awards to the winners. We also thank PS Elijah Mwangi and Sports Kenya Director General Timothy Kilimo for their leadership, together with Kenya Academy of Sports CEO Dr. Dorine Odhiambo, Senior Deputy Secretary Kipchumba Ruto, and senior officials from the three county governments and the State Department for Sports. In the spirit of inclusion and equity, the winners of the para volleyball tournament were also celebrated.

Beyond the goals, trophies and prize money, this tournament showed the power of sports to unite communities, nurture grassroots talent and open doors for the next generation of champions. The real winner was grassroots football, and the future of Kenyan sports looks brighter than ever.

Thank you Kenyans for Your overwhelming turnout at the Mashujaa Day celebrations in Eldoret, the cradle of champions, was a powerful tribute to the men and women whose extraordinary achievements have carried our flag to the pinnacle of global excellence. From record-breaking performances to podium finishes across the world, our sporting heroes continue to inspire generations.

It was an honour to join H.E. President William Ruto as the nation marked Mashujaa Day at the Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Uasin Gishu County. Standing in the home of so many champion journeys, we were reminded that greatness begins right here, on our fields, tracks and training grounds.

The best way to honour our legends is to build on what they started: a vibrant, functional and sustainable sports ecosystem that unlocks talent, expands opportunities and empowers young Kenyans to dream bigger, rise higher and surpass the heights reached before them. Together, we will make it happen.

What a week it has been at the Eldoret Polytechnic! The Thematic Week Exhibition brought together innovation, talent and community spirit, and the Sports Kenya booth was right in the middle of it. From curious students to proud parents, every visitor who stopped by reminded us that sports is far more than a game. It is a driver of health, unity, opportunity and national pride.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our Director General, Mr. Timothy Kilimo, the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Hon. Salim Mvurya, CBS, and the Principal Secretary, State Department for Sports, Mr. Elijah Mwangi, for their visionary leadership and unwavering support of Sports Kenya's mandate. Your commitment continues to open doors for Kenya's athletes, institutions and communities, and we are deeply honoured to have shared this platform with you.

To the general public, thank you for walking in, asking questions, sharing your stories and carrying the love of sport with you. Your energy made our booth come alive! We also salute all our stakeholders, partners and the Semi-Autonomous Government Agencies (SAGAs) who stood with us throughout the exhibition. Together, we show that when institutions collaborate, the nation wins.

Sports builds champions on the field and leaders in life. As the curtains close on this exhibition, our commitment remains the same: to nurture talent, promote active living and build a Kenya where every dream has a pitch, a track or a stage to grow on. Asante sana, Eldoret! Tutaonana tena!
