Even the smallest details can make the biggest difference in customer care.
A few months ago, I moved cities—which, for many men, is a big deal… because it means one thing: breaking up with your barber. And we don’t take that lightly. Loyalty like that? Every brand should want it.
So there I was—new city, new barber, and (unfortunately) an ongoing skin issue I had been battling for a while. I had already started proper dermatological treatment, but on my very first visit, my new barber noticed it immediately.
After the haircut, he quietly reached for some hydrogen peroxide, applied it to the affected areas, and said,
"Keep coming—I’ll treat it until it clears."
I smiled, paid, and left.
Two weeks later, I returned. He noticed the improvement and was genuinely excited. He repeated the process, fully convinced his treatment was working.
Truth be told… it wasn’t the peroxide.
But I didn’t interrupt him.
Today, my skin is completely healed—but something else stood out even more:
His belief that he had helped. His confidence grew. And my loyalty? Secured.
Here’s what this experience reinforced for me:
👉 1. Care beats perfection.
He didn’t overthink it—he simply showed he cared. That personal touch made all the difference. Customer problems aren’t one-size-fits-all, and neither are solutions.
👉 2. Initiative matters.
In customer service, you won’t always have the perfect answer. But doing something thoughtful is far better than doing nothing at all.
👉 3. Confidence builds trust.
Customers don’t expect you to know everything—but they do expect you to believe in what you’re offering.
And what did he earn?
✔️ A loyal customer
✔️ Referrals he didn’t have to ask for
✔️ Free marketing through word of mouth
Not bad for a little extra effort after a haircut.
