Hay is a perfect product to stimulate the rumen activity.
Hay is ideal for young stock and cows in the transition period.

For lactating cows silage is more suitable. Cows prefer to eat silage instead of hay.
The total uptake of dry matter through silage is therefore much higher than from hay.

The silage harvester must crush the kernels/grains.
When not crushed the cow cannot digest resulting in energy loss of 10% or more...
