Today our officers Visited FURAHA BAZO's shamba
The Shamba has a total number of 23 Members and 19 were present whilst 4 had an apology.

Main crops grown are:
1. Mabenda
2. Mchicha
3. Pilipili boga
4. Kunde
However during the visit we've noted the following challenges whereby there is inadequate Water supply due to the fact that the Pipes uses solar and the solar panels cannot facilitate well.
We also noted that Livestock are destroying crops.

After finding the aforementioned challenges we have agreed with the farmers that they will take care of their Shamba and protect them from being destroyed by livestock but also there os is need for stronger pipes and add seeds to our farmers.

Lastly we've advised the farmers to prune Cashew nut trees to allow the crops to get adequate sunlight which is fundamental for its growth.

Today we held a meeting with our members who are in the Shamba project run by Tuwajali wajane kwale SACCO at Mwaembe Ramisi Ward Msambweni sub County,KUMEKUCHA FARM where 13 members attended.
Our officers Jamila Wendo and Amani discussed with the farmers progress in in the organic farming project.
They also educated the members on the need for them to register in our Sacco after finding 3 of them are yet to get registered with our Sacco.
Also they noted that there are water issues where some outsiders use the water from the farm taps as well as children blocking some taps.
Measures have been taken by the group to conserve the water only for farming purpose.

Siku ya jana wamama walio na mradi wa shamba wakiongozwa na afisa wetu Mwanakombo Nassor, waliweza kuwaelezea wenzao kuhusu mradi huo.

Walianza na kuwaelezea jinsi ya kujiunga ambapo ili uwewanachama unatakiwa kutoa kiingilio.

Kwa kujiunga, mtu anahitajika kutoa kiingilio ambacho ni fedha kiasi cha Shilingi 1,000/=.

Katika mradi huu, wanachama wana siku maalum wanazokutakana shambani na endapo mwanachama atakosa kuhudhuria na atoe udhuru, unatakiwa kutoa faini ya shilingi 100/=

Hata hivyo,mwanachama akikosa kuhudhuria mara tatu mfululizo basi anapoteza uanachama wake wa mradi wa shamba.

A total of 4 new SACCO members have been registered today to the Tuwajali wajane kwale SACCO . This makes a total of 132 members in the SACCO.
Members were registered as a result of the Msambweni cluster widows meeting today where education and recruitment of the SACCO was conducted.

Tuwajali wajane kwale Executive Director madam Mwanasha Mwanasha Nchitseko Gaserego encouraged widows to join the SACCO since it's a way of growing together economically.
Additionally, she has affirmed support to widows that will see them achieve socio-economic independence

A training session by our Sacco Bookkeeper Mwanakombo Nassor at Msambweni sub County, Ramisi Ward, Vidungeni village.

Widows have been equipped with:
i) Sacco education, especially how to register ,save,buy shares and borrowing for investment
ii)sim card registration so that they can access and submit their savings and also receive money through their mobile phones.
iii)Social accountability and the budget process and it's importance.
iv)Opening of personal accounts with banks to facilitate withdrawal transactions of loans

Also we informed them about the international cooperative day which will be on Saturday 6th July 2024 at Ukunda showground

In the spirit of economic empowerment we have continued to support our widows through practical training on organic farming,all aiming at combating climate change, promoting economic stability as well as addressing Gender based violence.Through this we are giving these women a voice, indeed a woman with a voice is by definition an empowered one. #

One way of preventing and responding to gender based violence is through economic empowerment.Today through our partner in organic farming (global one and the department of agriculture)we trained 60 widows in making composite manure and organic pesticides.The training will sustain the widows in running their organic farming project as a producer group.The training comes months after the launch of the widows SACCO and completion of the solar powered water project for irrigation and continuous food production.With an economic empowered widow we are definitely limiting the risk of abuse.In the spirit of the 16 days against GBV ,we are saying no to widows based violence . #
