Meet Ainabkoi Farmers Cooperative Society—a Cohort 3 participant of the program.
Established in 1963, the Ainabkoi Farmers Cooperative Society Limited (AFCS) stands as a prominent producer organisation in Ainabkoi, Uasin Gishu County, empowering over 2,400 smallholder farmers. With operations spanning Ainabkoi, Olare Ward, Tarakwa, and neighbouring counties like Baringo and Elgeyo Marakwet, AFCS offers a wide array of services, including milk bulking, cooling, value addition, potato aggregation, financial assistance, and provision of quality farm inputs.
Driven by a commitment to sustainable agricultural growth, the society prioritises gender inclusivity, equal opportunity, and maintains a transparent, drug-free, and corruption-free environment, thereby serving as a vital catalyst for regional agricultural development.
Thanks to the support of KIEP 250+, AFCS has been able to significantly enhance its operational capacity and farmer support systems. Specifically, the development and implementation of a comprehensive farmers' training programme, including tailored curriculum and materials focusing on dairy, potato, and poultry value chains, has empowered both staff and farmers with crucial knowledge and skills.
Additionally, the digitisation of milk collection and automation of business processes, through the procurement and installation of necessary software and hardware, has streamlined operations and improved efficiency, contributing to the overall sustainable growth of the cooperative.
Having been a part of their story is something we value greatly, and we look forward to their sustained and impactful endeavours.
