HOW CARBS CAUSE INSULIN RESISTANCE AND THEN HYPERTENSION THEN SALT GET RHE BLAME.

One of the main drivers of hypertension is insulin resistance—a dietary disease. Insulin resistance (IR) creates a cascade of effects that increase the workload on the heart, kidneys, and blood vessels, leading to the development and maintenance of high blood pressure:

HOW?

1. Sodium Retention: Insulin Resistance leads to increased reabsorption of sodium by the kidneys. This sodium retention increases blood volume, which raises blood pressure.

2. Endothelial Dysfunction: Insulin Resistance impairs the function of the endothelium, the inner lining of blood vessels. This dysfunction reduces the production of nitric oxide, a molecule that helps blood vessels relax and dilate. With less nitric oxide, blood vessels remain constricted, leading to higher blood pressure which need more pills.

3. Increased Vascular Resistance: Insulin Resistance can cause structural changes in blood vessels, such as thickening of the vessel walls and increased stiffness. These changes make it more difficult for blood to flow through the vessels, raising blood pressure.

4. Sympathetic Nervous System Activation: Insulin Resistance can lead to overactivation of the sympathetic nervous system (through insulin receptors in the hypothalamus), which increases heart rate and causes blood vessels to constrict, both of which elevate blood pressure.

5. Inflammation: Chronic inflammation associated with IR can contribute to vascular changes that promote hypertension.

Reversing insulin resistance through a low carb diet and exercise is key to controlling and reversing hypertension. No hospital will teach you this.

The kidneys contain insulin receptors that regulate sodium reabsorption from the urine back into the blood stream.

Dysregulation of this process, like when there is too much insulin, contributes to sodium and water retention leading to high blood pressure.

This is independent of dietary salt intake. The treatment for most cases of primary hypertension is carbohydrate restriction, not salt restriction

Eating salt is not generally the root cause of hypertension & eating fat is not generally the root cause of obesity.

The question is: what is telling the kidneys to retain salt & the body to store fat? The main cause is too much insulin for too long from too much sugar & carbs.

Treatment?

We can all guess right.

Female hormones are chemical messengers produced primarily by the ovaries, but also by the adrenal glands, fat tissue, and during pregnancy, the placenta. They regulate the reproductive system, influence many other bodily systems, & crucial for overall health.

1. Estrogen (Actually a Group of Hormones): This is the primary female s*x hormone, with three main forms: Estradiol (most potent, main reproductive years), Estrone (post-menopause), and Estriol (pregnancy).

2. Progesterone: Works in concert with, and often balances, estrogen. Its name means "for pregnancy.

3. Testosterone: women produce it too (in smaller amounts than men). It's vital for female health.

4. Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) & Luteinizing Hormone (LH): These are pituitary gland hormones that control the ovaries.

- FSH: Stimulates the growth of ovarian follicles (which contain eggs) & production of estrogen.

- LH: Triggers ovulation (the release of an egg). After ovulation, it stimulates the corpus luteum to produce progesterone.

The poultry digestive system is a highly efficient and specialized process designed to support rapid growth, high metabolism, and egg production in birds such as chickens, ducks, and turkeys.

=> Digestion begins in the beak and oral cavity, where feed is swallowed without chewing and passes through the esophagus into the crop, which temporarily stores and softens the feed.

=> The food then enters the proventriculus (glandular stomach), where digestive enzymes and acids are secreted, followed by the gizzard (muscular stomach), which mechanically grinds the feed with the help of grit.

=> Nutrient digestion and absorption mainly occur in the small intestine, assisted by bile from the liver and enzymes from the pancreas.

=> The ceca play a limited role in microbial fermentation and water absorption, while the large intestine and cloaca facilitate waste excretion.

=> This well-adapted digestive system allows poultry to efficiently convert feed into meat and eggs, making them one of the most productive food animals. 🐔🥚

[Weight...] Most people think extra body fat is just “extra weight.

#ទម្ងន់

When body fat increases, bones do not magically get stronger or bigger. Skeleton keeps the same structure, but handle higher mechanical load every step, sit, and bend.

=> Quietly happening :
- Fat mass shifts the center of gravity forward → posture compensates
- Spine stays under constant compression, especially the lower back
- Hips, knees, and ankles absorb repeated high-impact stress

Joints experience more friction, not because of movement but because of load
Over time.

Research links excess mechanical load to:
- Faster joint cartilage wear
- Reduced mobility and range of motion
- Higher risk of chronic back, knee, and hip pain

What is interesting:
Weight alone isn’t the whole story. Where fat is distributed (especially abdominal fat) matters more for spinal stress than total body weight.

Curious to hear your thoughts:
Do you think joint pain is more about weight, movement habits, or posture over time?

🐔 Marek’s Disease (MD) in Chickens

Veterinary-Approved Overview, Control & Prevention

1️⃣ Etiology & Importance

🦠 Marek’s Disease is a highly contagious viral disease caused by Gallid herpesvirus-2 (MDV). It primarily affects the nervous system, eyes, skin, and visceral organs, leading to paralysis, tumors, and immunosuppression with high economic impact.

2️⃣ Clinical Signs

👣 Nervous form: unilateral leg or wing paralysis, ataxia
👁 Ocular form: grey eye, irregular pupil, blindness
🧬 Visceral form: tumors in liver, spleen, kidney, go**ds
😔 General: weight loss, depression, increased mortality

3️⃣ Treatment (Reality Check)

⚠ No treatment or cure available for Marek’s Disease

❌ Antivirals are ineffective
❌ Antibiotics do NOT treat MD (only control secondary infections)

✅ Supportive & management measures:

Immediate removal/culling of affected birds

Improve nutrition & reduce stress

Control secondary bacterial infections under veterinary supervision

Once clinical signs appear, the prognosis is poor.

4️⃣ Vaccination (Primary & Only Effective Prevention)

💉 Vaccination is essential and must be done at hatchery level

HVT (Herpesvirus of Turkey) vaccine

CVI988 / Rispens vaccine (highly protective)

Bivalent vaccines (HVT + Rispens)

🗓 Timing:

Day-old chicks ONLY (in-ovo or subcutaneous)
🚫 No benefit if given after exposure

❄ Maintain strict cold chain and proper handling

5️⃣ Biosecurity Measures

🛡 Prevent early exposure (first 2 weeks critical)
🧼 Strict hygiene in brooder houses
🚫 Limit visitors & equipment sharing
🪶 Control feather dust (major virus carrier)

6️⃣ Sanitation & Farm Management

🧽 Thorough cleaning between flocks
🌀 Proper ventilation to reduce dust
🔄 All-in/all-out management
🐀 Rodent & insect control

7️⃣ Key Veterinary Notes

📌 Vaccination prevents disease, not infection
📌 MD virus survives long in poultry houses
📌 Good management reduces disease expression

✅ Professional Summary

Marek’s Disease has no cure. Early vaccination, strict biosecurity, and proper farm management are the only effective control strategies.
