𝗣𝗜𝗔𝗦𝗩𝗖 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 – 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

In June 2026, our evaluation team conducted field data collection for the 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗩𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 (𝗣𝗜𝗔𝗦𝗩𝗖) 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 in Lao PDR.

Through interviews, focus group discussions, and consultations with communities, local authorities, CSOs, and government partners, we gathered evidence on the project’s 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁, 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻.
A key focus was understanding how the project has improved access to 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀, especially for women, ethnic groups, and vulnerable communities.

🌊 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝗻𝗴! 🇻🇳

This June, our whole team swapped screens for sunshine and headed to 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗴 (𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗻𝗮𝗺) 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝟱 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 — and what a trip it was.

From paddling basket boats through the coconut palms of Hoi An, to wandering the lantern-lit streets and the iconic Japanese Covered Bridge, to soaking in the views at Ba Na Hills — we packed in adventure, incredible food, and more than a few shared laughs (and toasts 🍻).

Trips like this remind us that great work starts with great people. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 who made it unforgettable, and to the team that keeps DataVerse moving forward every day.

📍 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗦𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 (𝗣𝗜𝗞)

In May 2026, the DataVerse team traveled to Sayyabouly Province to conduct field data collection for the P*K Research.

𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹. Through close coordination with local authorities and strong teamwork, we were able to complete the planned data collection while maintaining the quality standards.

While data collection is often summarized in reports and statistics, the reality behind the numbers is a journey filled with challenges, persistence, and meaningful conversations.

One of the main challenges was 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 interview participants. The research applied specific selection criteria (e.g., we want to talk to youth and their parents, but getting 2 people from the same household during the production period is hard to find).

Another challenge we encountered was 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. Reaching some target villages required traveling along rough and muddy roads, especially after rainfall.

Despite these challenges, we were welcomed by local communities who generously shared their experiences, perspectives, and insights. Their participation is what makes evidence-based research possible.

✈️Back from our Ex-Post trip to Kasi & Sayabouri 🚐🌿for Mekong Region Land Governance Project ( ) Phase 3.

The evaluation assesses the effectiveness and sustainability of interventions in three pilot villages in the Lao PDR (PhaJao, NamTuan, and NaOum). The project aimed to strengthen land tenure security for vulnerable communities by enhancing the capacities of government authorities and local land users in various ways.

🔎The "collaborative mapping process" empowered communities and aligned with government policy—reducing disputes and boosting transparency. On the other hand, the "grievance resolution mechanism" has not been effective with unmet agreements, restricted land access, environmental damage, and child labor risks have not been resolved.

🤝We met with villagers and local officials to hear “how land projects played out on the ground”—real stories, real lessons, lots to take forward.

🚀 We’re kicking off Phase 2 of the JuSTICE Project!
After completing the Needs assessment for the Ministry of Justice’s Department of International Cooperation (DIC) earlier this year, we’re now moving into an exciting new chapter — developing a custom Cloud-based File Management System.
This system will:

🔍 Enable smart search and linked references
📈 Provide dashboards for better reporting and decision-making
🔐 Ensure secure, role-based access for different users
🌐 Support both Lao and English interfaces
For us, this phase is not only about delivering a digital tool — it’s about co-creating something sustainable with the DIC team, enhancing efficiency, transparency, and accessibility in their daily workflows.
It’s going to be fun, collaborative, and a big learning journey for everyone involved — and we can’t wait to share milestones along the way!
