Having managed thousands of people for the past 30 years, may I share with you a few thoughts? These are the most valuable things that I have gathered:

1. Never complain about anyone. The worst thing in the business world is people talking about others... it is the collapse of business!
2. Never complain about your work. You were hired to solve problems. If there were no problems to solve, then they wouldn't need you!
3. Always be happy. Only an odd one or two people in companies are happy. Happy people make work go better
4. Don't solve other people's problems. You were hired to do your job. Everyone has problems. Let them sort them out for themselves. Do your job.
5. Do what you said you would do by the time you agreed to do it. This is invaluable. Most people do NOT do what was asked of them. They go off and do what they think is important. This is extremely frustrating for the manager of that person. We want done what we asked to be done by the time that we agreed it would be done.
6. If you can't reach the deadline, say so as early as possible.
7. Work is for doing business. Religion and personal interests are what you pursue outside your job. By being an excellent employee you will shine. People will be attracted to that.
8. What Sally says about Harry says more about Sally than it does about Harry
9. Never work for free. That's called volunteerism
10. Love what you do. It makes everything possible

Where will you be in 12 weeks time?

This is an amazing question. Today you are secure in your current life circumstances and you think that tomorrow will bring you more of what you had today... but life is an adventure! When you step out in faith into a different dimension, when you are willing to take the risk, when you are ready to go anywhere and do anything... that's when life gets exciting!

13 weeks ago I was sitting in my office overlooking the Gulf (Arabian), since then I have moved to South East Asia, visited some amazing cities and am working on a project that demands all my time and focus to bring a company into it's element... and doing that in a completely different language! Thai...

What will be?

12 weeks from now, where will you be????

Today I uncovered a new kind of therapy... it's the 2 minute man

In my local shop, which I visit daily, I meet the same person day after day. I always say hello and have a conversation that never lasts more than 2 minutes. But this 2 minutes is great for the soul. We talk about politics...
Huh, same story as always today! And the answer comes back, yep.. they will never change...

Lovely weather today isn't it? Oh yes, but it may rain later...

And so on.

These 2 minute conversations are pleasant, polite but therapeutic. They build a sense of belonging to one's community. They build a sense of well being, and yet they are without any commitment, no need an app or a follow up. These conversations just happen naturally.

As soon as you become aware of them, guess what? You realize that you have these mini therapy sessions all over the place and many times a day.

They are conversations without complexity.

So, next time you see a person that is serving you, whom you have seen many times, start your therapy, and open a 2 minute conversation.

Be a 2 minute therapist! It works both ways...

Taxi drivers are some of the best therapists ever... you get in, you talk about anything you want, and when you reach your destination you pay and you leave.

There must be a great business opportunity in there somewhere!

Who's first?

Garrick Saito's answer: Only $1? Hmmm. Not much start up capital. :( This seems to be one of those "Try to make the best with what you've got" times. Better to start a modest, service-based business, rather than to try to acquire Starbucks.

Let's see...

I'd go to the 99 Cents Only Store, st...
